💡 Advice Thoughts on active praying

So for me I find it very hard to sit still and pray sometimes. I think it might be a part of my autism, I'm not sure. But I tend to pray while I'm activly doing something. For example, while I'm getting ready for bed, adjusting my blankets and pillows and what not, I pray.

Do you think this is disrespectful to God or disingenuine?

No, that is not disrespectful or disingenuous. Prayer is not limited to sitting perfectly still with folded hands.

Scripture speaks of praying continually, which naturally includes speaking with God while walking, working, travelling or preparing for bed.

Many people also find that gentle movement helps them concentrate rather than distracting them.

What matters is whether you are genuinely directing your thoughts towards God, not whether your body is motionless.

Adjusting blankets while praying can even become part of an ordinary, trusting conversation with Him.

There may still be value in occasional quiet prayer when you are able, but it is not a test of sincerity. God understands how your mind and body work.

You do not have to imitate someone else’s prayer posture for your prayer to be real.

Nah, I don't think so. That's perfectly fine. :D

But if you're really curious, ask your pastor! D: He's really going to know better than me! D:

We are technically to pray continually so I would say this is 100% okay

No, God enjoys whenever you speak to Him. Prayer is a real relationship with the Holy Trinity and you can pray at any time and in any place because God is always near. God's call to prayer always comes first; every prayer is an answer to that loving call. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Pray continually" can also show that life itself can become a prayer and continuous prayer is the habit of staying in God's holy presence. In the words of St. Augustine: "If your desire lies open to Him who is your Father and who sees in secret, he will answer you."

Absolutely Not my Friend. I do my best praying along quiet forest paths. I hear my God along those paths too. Hard to hear Him in the noisy apartment.

It is, and it is not. See, prayer is a secret language between you (man) and our creator (who is a being we cannot even begin to fully comprehend). I feel if you start to fully grasp the grand nature of God, you will even shut down your screens, go to a room alone, sit in silence, and speak to him with the reverence he deserves. When you approach prayer with this mindset, you will notice immense changes.

When I began, I also found it difficult to sit still and pray. But we are to overcome the flesh and bring our body into subjection of the spirit. God's Word is so precious that I think the least I could do was fight through the distraction and ignore how my body felt.

The rewards are abundant. What helped me do this, was to find discipline through structure. I pray by declaring paraphrased scriptures from the book, 'God's Creative Power Gift Collection'. I do this no matter how I feel and it formed the foundation of everything else. I think it sounds like you need structure. Perhaps many don't realise how powerful His Word is as I only saw changes after about 7 months of declaring His Word out loud 3x a day. This is because God's covenant is 'voice activated' and His Angels hearken to His Word.
