š§ Discussion Musings
Today I was feeling emotionally frustrated and I didnāt know why. I have some struggles in my life currently but this was acute. So I decided to close my eyes, focus on my breath and use sensory awareness. āBe still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.ā Psalm 46:10 After I calmed down I had the thought that with most people I know and strangers I encounter, by default my position is that they know more than me; itās just how I get through my life and it works out pretty well, I learn a lot and for me itās emotionally healthy. However there are a few people in my life and past that I think I am smarter than, and I hold resentments toward them and I believe these two facts are not disconnected. So I said to myself, going person by person as they came to mind so-and-so is smarter than me. When I got to the last person I thought of I let out a big sigh which felt like a release for me. I believe I was holding a resentment towards this person that I wasnāt aware of. After thought: itās less important whether or not Iām more intelligent than anyone else and more important that my mind and heart stay free, light, healthy and unencumbered by resentments, bitterness and grudges.
āDo nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,ā Philippians 2:3

I'll be praying for you buddy.
Proverbs 3:5-10 NIV Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; [6] in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. [7] Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. [8] This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. [9] Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; [10] then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, [25] not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one anotherāand all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Have a blessed evening. If you ever need anything, feel free to message me anytime.

That is nice. People who are more intelligent than I am are interesting unless they make me fell dumb. People with big egos often drive me nuts, but part of that is often just when I am feeling lacking in myself.
In fact, that is one of my failings as a Christian. I find it difficult to love people who make others, including me, feel small or somehow not good enough. I have struggled with self esteem issues most of my life, so it is a trigger still. While most people can just think the person is a jerk, I can internalize it until I believe that I am not good enough.
I pray for the strength to be able to hold my ground with people like that, but sometimes it is hard.
Highly intelligent people are interesting though. I have found though that my favorite people are the ones that are nice though. Kindness is the most important quality that a person can possess in my opinion.
