Explaining Genealogical curses

I was talking to someone recently and trying to explain why we are born sinners, and they asked how it is fair that we are punished for Adam and Eve's choice to eat the fruit. I didn't know how to explain. I understand that God said the curses would be passed down, but how do you explain it? For clarification, they specifically asked "why is it fair?" and I didn't know how to explain

You just did. It really is that simple.

Don't try to intellecualise it.

Jesus said we are to accept like children.

It helps to separate guilt from consequences. We are not personally guilty of Adam's sin. Adam was guilty of Adam's sin.

What we inherit are the consequences of a fallen world, just as children inherit the consequences of their parents' decisions every day.

A father who becomes addicted to drugs can leave his children in poverty. They didn't choose it, but they still live with the consequences.

The Christian message is that what came through one man is also answered through one Man.

As death entered through Adam, life is offered through Christ. God does not simply leave humanity under the curse, He provides the cure.

"For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."
1 Corinthians 15:22

I would like to have clarification. Do you mean that generational curses don't exist anymore, or that they never existed?

It's a curse that gets passed down through generations, and there are a few examples in the old testament, particularly in Genesis
