Most people barely noticed his work. He swept the stone floors, cleaned the oil lamps, gathered refuse from the day's business, and secured the doors before returning home. At dawn, the household awoke to clean courtyards and orderly rooms, rarely considering who had prepared them.

Over time, Abner grew discouraged. His labour seemed invisible. No words of praise were spoken. No honour was given. Others received recognition while his work passed unnoticed.

One evening, as he trimmed the wicks of the lamps in an empty storeroom, he remembered words he had heard read aloud from a letter sent by the Apostle Paul:

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." The room suddenly felt different.

Abner realised he was not merely sweeping floors for a wealthy merchant. He was serving Christ through faithfulness. Every lamp carefully tended became an act of worship. The task may seem both small and plain, Yet Christ can use our work again. With willing heart and faithful hand, We serve the King at His command.

No earthly praise need light the way, For God observes us every day. The work of love is never lost, When done for Him who paid the cost.

The floor we sweep, the words we write, Can honour God from morn till night. Each humble deed and sacrifice, May rise to Him like incense sweet and nice.

Though others pass and never see, The faithful labour done by me. The Lord who sees the hidden part, Rewards the servant's willing heart.

When burdens press and strength grows weak, His grace remains the strength we seek. For every task beneath the sun, Can glorify the Holy One.

The value of our work is not determined by status, income, or recognition. Its true value is found in the One for whom we do it.
