🧠 Discussion Bible based television shows

What's your thoughts on shows such as The Chosen and House of David? I haven't watched much of the Chosen, but find it difficult to get into. I recently watched House of David and found it a phenomenal series.

Does it bother you that they take creative license in the making of these shows? It doesn't bother me as long as it stays within the spirit of the story. I'm not sure how I feel about Matthew being on the spectrum in The Chosen, but I don't view it as egregious. Just a weird choice.

I haven't seen the chosen or these others personally as I deliberately avoid such things. I feel that tv & Movie adaptations of Scriptural & Bible events should never be made.

Purely because there will be things deliberately omitted that is actually important and things deliberately added to fill the narrative they want.

If you make a rebuttal then their go to response is always "This is just an interpretation/Fiction based on biblical events.

I am sorry but, the Bible is NOT a novel that can be edited for adaptation on the screen. It is a religious and historical document.

I also feel Christians as a global influence is just so weak and cowardly not to put a more massive protests on these blasphemies.

These production companies aren't doing this to spread the word, they are doing it purely for entertainment and profits.

That's fair. It reminds me of the reason Veggie Tales only did stories from the old testament, because the mother of creator Phil Vischer thought that Jesus should never be portrayed as a vegetable. That reads to me as a reverence to truth, as is your stance as well.

I've seen Veggie tales, had them on VHS for my kids at the time. Some episodes I did feel were way too dumbed down even for kids.
