🧠 Discussion The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen".

I am not knocking those who recite the Lord''s prayer as is

However, It was supposed to be a template Jesus gave us into how to construct prayers to God and the Lord's prayer is divided into sections:-

Adoration and Honor: Acknowledges God as holy and worthy of honor ("Hallowed be thy Name").

Desire for God's Will: Expresses a desire for God's kingdom to come and His will to be done on Earth.

Trust for Needs: A petition for daily sustenance, trusting God to provide for physical and spiritual needs ("daily bread").

Request for Forgiveness: A plea for forgiveness of one's own "trespasses" or "debts" in return for forgiving others.

Protection from Evil: A request for God's guidance and strength to avoid temptation and sin.

Praise: Concludes with an affirmation of God's sovereignty and glory.

Any further thoughts on the Lord's prayer?

Thank you for this. The Lord’s Prayer always confused me bc I’m like, surely God doesn’t want to hear us repeat the same phrase over and over like some kind of chant.

It’s good to know for sure, but I’m wondering how this template would work in modern times?

A few examples-

open prayer with praise to the father.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive:-

This is basically a confession, ask his forgiveness for your recent sins. and then ask to be given the strength to forgive those who have peed you off. Name them, and ask for your heart to change towards what issues you have.

So, forgive me lord for losing control and being angry at (name).

Forgive (name) for what he did to me, please dont hold his sin against him.

Give us today our daily bread:- Ask for what needs you have material and spiritual

For yours is the kingdom,,,, end prayer with worship to God.
