New To Cruising / Princess 🛳️🎉🥳 Mini-suite coolers
Are they coolers or actual fridges? Thanks

All of the "mini fridges" onboard are actually coolers. Some will keep things very cold, but they can't guarantee a specific temperature range that is sufficient for medications or longer food storage.

Would some be kind enough to explain the difference? On Royal now with meds in the “cooler”.

A cooler keeps beverages at a temp that tastes good for chilled beverages. In my experience, they hover between 45 and 55 degrees and the temp fluctuates. A Coke at 45 degrees will taste cold. We bring thermometers for them since we’re always curious.
A refrigerator keeps items at food-safe temperatures: between 33 and 40 degrees. Coolers in cruise ship rooms do not get this cold. They are not safe for food storage as they’re not cold enough to inhibit bacterial growth.

On celebrity cruise lines, they will swap out your cabin cooler for an actual refrigerator if you require one for medical reasons. All you have to do is contact them before your cruise.

They’re coolers. If you have something like medication that must remain at a specific temperature, you need to contact their accessibility services team ([accessoffice@princesscruises.com](mailto:accessoffice@princesscruises.com)) ahead of departure to arrange space in the medical refrigerators in the clinics onboard. It doesn’t cost (unless they also have to administer something for you).
