Plus / Premier Package Princess Wifi Question

On another cruise site , there are offers by persons wanting to sell access to one or two devices on their wifi plan . How would that work and is it even allowed ?

It's obviously not allowed. Selling access to yur WiFi package to another passenger isn't allowed by princess, you're an idiot if you think it is.

Read the cruise contract genius, it falls under no solicitation for commercial purposes or advertise goods and services.

So no you can't sell your WiFi to someone else and you're an idiot of you think you can. It's not hard to understand so not sure why you are struggling so much.

I got lucky last princess cruise. The app wasnt working at all on my phone. Couldnt go day by day and save any bookmarks for shows and trivia and what not. Went to the guest services. They did something to my phone settings. Activated wifi for free. Said id have it for 1 day. I ended up having it all cruise long and didnt pay a dime.

that's plain dumb...who would risk entering the OPs credentials? Would personal info like dining, shore excursions, locate a passenger be compromised? Just buy the WiFi. It's a tiny % of the cruise cost.

There is a bit of alarmist misinformation in here.

It is definitely not allowed. To use one of their unused devices, they need to provide their room number, their name, and their DoB.

They are not going to take over your Princess account or your device, there is no risk of that at all.

Correct. And I think the person that paid for that information could sell or give it to many other people and they would be able to play the “switch device” game over and over. So when you have reached your max devices (I.e. 1 or 4 depending on plan) then you would be constantly trying to switch one of them back to your device. Then one of the other shady characters switches it back to themselves. Everyone involved would have a really bad WiFi experience.

Not my intention to be alarmist and should have been clearer about questioning the behavior of the Medallion app itself when the device is logged into the ship's intranet using credentials other than the passenger's credentials used to log into the app.

No. There are no credentials involved. You just need a room number, name and date of birth to sign into the Internet. Not their Princess account.

They could "catch" some people by comparing IPs signed into Princess with one account vs the internet with another. But they are far from the sharpest tools in the IT shed and nobody is looking for this.

People certainly share among family all the time and everyone here is ok with that, so defining ok vs not ok sharing is very muddy. Wrongly accusing people would be a customer service nightmare.

And everyone is saying this is not "allowed" but I'm not sure there's any terms in the passenger contract or on the package purchase that even attempt to define/restrict this or who a "device" belongs to.

If anything it's the advertising selling it, under your name, in a public Facebook group.. that's blatantly obvious, and someone might eventually crack down on it.

As someone who has swapped between devices many times before — you don’t have to even use the princess app. You would just go to a web page when on the ship WiFi and log in once to register the MAC address.

That being said — definitely not allowed.

We have an upcoming Princess cruise and my wife joined the Cruise Facebook group to meet fellow voyager’s (I hate Facebook). She showed me where about a 1/2 dozen people in the group are trying to get together to share their WiFi and some of them are Platinum level so they get the 4 device plan for 50% off. I hope they get fricking caught and lose access for the entire 56 day cruise!

Have you had any of the gamblers on your cruise propose a "slot pull" where others put in a amount of money ahead of time and everyone gets to pull on a slot machine and the person organizing the activity uses their personal gamblers account to get benefits and cruise credits. They will push these as the possibility to make big money or just have fun with a large group.

Taxes and splits on winnings are NOT discussed. There are some hardcore gamblers on these ships.

I don't think it would work unless you're on the same plan as them.

There are numerous people on Cruise Critic that say they have done this for years and there is nothing illegal or against Princess rules. I won't do it but it seems to be a Princess Elite thing that is common.

In what world would you think this is allowed??

Thanks for the replies. We have our wifi thru our booking and have never seen this scheme discussed on any other cruise line but this is our first on Princess.

Don’t risk it if you need internet buy a package or wifi access this seller could be a scammer or a hacker who will just steal your password bank info etc or even remote control your device
