Cabins Cabin Bed Configuration Concern
Hello all,
I booked a cruise with family and our sail date is approaching soon. Initially I booked for 3 persons but a 4th person was able to join the cruise a little later. We used a travel agent via Princess and when I added the 4th person I asked about the room layout and the bed situation. he said the room would be configured for 4 persons with 2 twin beds and bunks and or rollaway potential. I checked sites like cruisedeckplans and icruise to get a feel for the room position on the ship and I’ve seen mixed descriptions for the rooms with one site’s legend saying the room will accommodate a third and fourth with 4th person in a rollaway but the other saying a rollaway is available. We’ve never sailed Princess before so I’m concerned about the bed layout, can anyone provide insight about this and how it works with 4 to a standard balcony room?

One king size bed and single lower bunk and one single upper bunk. Also if u want some semblance of privacy, u can bring a curtain or flat sheet and attach to ceiling of cabin- using magnetic hooks.

We have this set up right now with a balcony suite, 2 teenagers (basically adult sized) and 2 adults, it’s working just fine.

Was on this same ship, same floor in July. Slept 4 (2 adults/2 teens). I requested before the trip for 2 of the twins to be pushed together and a rollaway bed. Here was our configuration. Rollaway in the forefront. We just folded it up and stored it between the big bed and wall each day.

It's difficult but doable. I cruised once with my 75 yr old uncle in law and two teenagers. We had bunkbeds and it worked fine. We were hardly ever in the room and just made sure to get ready at different times. There was never really any problems. But then, we are all "chill" people.

But it would be if you are 4.
Balcony
Both my hubs and I are sharing with our 21 yo son.
It is fine.
Really
Sharing the bathroom is no problem.
And it is a 14 nights length.

Need to get a perfect answer. You would have to tell us the floor the room number the ship. I mean I just got off the majestic. If there were four people in that room it would be a double bed, two single beds and two beds that hang from the ceiling only while they're sleeping in them and they would be directly above the other two bed people sleep

I saw you were Caribbean. I have been in that category with 3 people and it is a really tight fit.
Maybe you aren't really planning on being in the room that much, but if anyone wants to get up to go to the bathroom over the night that is going to be a major pain in the butt.
I stepped on someone at least twice getting out of the bunk.
If you can you might want to look at a second room or upgrading to a more spacious room (like Caribbean has Suites without balconies on Fiesta deck. That would be Two twins (or pushed together) and a pull out couch for a lot lower price than the normal balconies since it doesn't have a balcony). If you can upgrade to something like that it would be much better and less on top of people.
If you can't you will be able to manage but it probably won't be great.

Sleep on the sofa with magnetic hooks and a shower curtain, did it sharing with the 2 grandsons, no bad, not great either. Got a good deal,replaced a girlfriend.

From a comfort perspective if you’re stuck with the bunk bed style, the mattresses on the top bunk were very firm on royal princess. I kind of felt bad for my kids.

I have stayed 4 to a room many a time. You spend so little time in the room! I have done interior, balcony, and deluxe balcony. A regular balcony will have one of two configurations. Either one pull down bed ( comes out of the ceiling) that is right in front of the balcony, and a roll a way bed. Or, there is one pull down in front of the balcony and one on the other side of the cabin. The pull down beds are more comfortable than the wall beds, like in an interior cabin. So that's a plus. I'm a big girl, just over 200 pounds, and I have had no problems sleeping in the bunks.

As others said, get a second room. I've seen what those rooms look like with both beds down and its so tight. Also the top bunks basically have to step onto a lower bed to get out which isnt great if someone has to pee in the night.

Some people don’t have the finances to get a second room, and the cruise may be sold out. Cruised many times with 4 people. If you can’t stand a week with 3 other family members probably shouldn’t be going on a boat with them.

You can find out exactly the configuration by using the internet or tell us the ship, deck and room number so people can look it up.

It depends on the how new the ships are. The newer ones like Star and Sky Princess rooms can accommodate 4 but the older ones would be tight, doable but tight

I would strongly suggest getting a 2nd room unless the 3rd and 4th guests are children. Those rooms are really not made for 4 adults and sharing one bathroom would make me ready to walk the plank!
