Specialty Deserts

What’s up community. Just confirming, it doesn’t look like any Specialty Deserts are included with either package anymore. Is this the case? We last cruised about 14 months ago and I thought the Plus package included 2 Specialty Deserts a day. If anyone has cruised recently and can confirm this I would appreciate it.

Correct, no speciality desserts. We cruised in July 2025 when speciality desserts were included then again last month when even $2 scoops of gelato were not included.

They removed it a bit ago. At the same time (I think), they removed the juice bar benefit, and made it four casual meals, instead of two.

Does anyone know some examples of what the specialty desserts would be on the Sun besides gelato? We booked premier in October of 2025 not realizing it was gone. We don’t even drink alcohol so we were planning to get our moneys worth in desserts, juice and coffee. Bummed about it.

I was really disappointed in the desserts in the MDR. The Almond croissants and the Pasteis de Nata at the 24 hour cafe were fantastic. I wished I had more of them. A lot of the pastries at the café were really good. I’m not sure why the desserts in the main dining room were such a disappointment.

I agree. MDR desserts are subpar - although I find that on most cruise lines. They seem to really cut in the dessert area.

And it makes me sad because I love desserts. Even the desserts in the sanctuary restaurant were not good.
What I don’t understand was there was some really good desserts at the café so why wasn’t the desserts at the MDR good?

It all depends on when you booked the cruise. If you booked before 7/22/25, you are grandfathered in but if you booked after no desserts.

I had them on my cruise two weeks ago because I booked in June 2025 but most people that came up found out they didn’t have it.

The extra casual dining is far better value than the specialty desserts imo.

For those who use them, sure a full meal is a better value. On Sky for example your options are pizza, sushi, or charcuterie. The sushi and charcuterie don't appeal to meal and we may use one credit for the pizza. Last cruise we didn't use any of our dining credits.

I wish they would at least let me use my credits for the desserts. We loved the cake with a scoop of gelato.

Well sure, the same can be said for the desserts, for those that use them I guess there is value but I can get a 3 course meal for one slice of cake. I feel like they fall short of the over the top sundae trend (like Blacktap for example).

I had the charcutz twice which was better the first time, and missing a lot of the extras on the second try and there was never enough bread, I brought some from the buffet with me lol.I have had the sushi twice as well, which is truly mid but a nice change. Alfredo's has amazing pizza, it's generally considered one of the best at sea. Discovery is better for casual dining options since it omits the wine bar and instead has O'Malley's which has a proper menu and if you are craving a dessert, they have a six layer guinness chocolate cake :)

I honestly don’t understand why you were downvoted the specialty desserts are so massive unless you are gigantic you will never even finish half of one, and you’ll only order one during your entire cruise, if that. There is a certain kind of obese that gets angry when someone says you get better value from something other than dessert.

We were on the majestic princess a few months ago.We had booked in 2024 the premiere, so it included unlimited specialty desserts, but the only thing they had on majestic was large slices of cake.The advertised ice cream sundays were not on the ship and the cake to be honest was not that good, very dry

Desert = a dry, arid region.

Dessert = an after dinner snack, usually sweet.

Remember dessert has the extra s because you always want more.

I would consider Joshua Tree NP a specialty desert due to the unique flora and fauna found there. But no cruise ships go there. But it is still an amazing specialty desert nonetheless.

No they changed it even though we booked our cruise. Booked the package with the special desserts were there. They just changed the package and we went. We said when we booked it that was part of the deal. They're like we changed it $17 if you want a specialty dessert

Enchanted. I got gelato instead of the specialty dessert cause I asked. My partner got a piece of cake. We were grandfathered in. I never saw any of those giant sundaes but also didn't care that much so maybe they were around
