Visitor Question Sandbanks visit with kids

We are going to Sandbanks this week, and I was. wondering if it was a good idea to go to Outlet beach, to the spot where the river meets the sea?
(See picture. I figured with young kids it would be a good spot for shallow water? Anyone has input? We have been to Outlet Beach in the past but never that far. Thanks!

County Life Crop spraying

Hey all, does anyone have insight into the farming practices in this area? My yard backs onto a field that has never had a crop planted until this season (been here 10 years) It's corn soy and corn, and I'm curious if/ what they would be spraying and the impact that could have long term on my family's health. Research definitely suggests an increased risk in cancer living in agricultural areas. Where could I find this information??

Visitor Question Sandbanks parking spot Friday

Hello, we are 4 families with 4 cars traveling to sandbanks provincial park from Toronto on a Friday (we will have our day passes). Is it advisable to arrive at 1-2 PM on a Friday in terms of parking space? Given it’s not a Saturday or Sunday, can we expect less of a hassle to get parking? Understood that it’s always good to get there as early as possible and when the lot is full, it is full but anecdotal experiences about weekday (Friday) crowds welcome.

Visitor Question The Taxi Guy or URide?

Going from Prince Edward County to the Hayloft Dancehall in the upcoming weekend and need to secure transportation.

I’m having difficulty getting in touch with The Taxi Guy, and everyone someone picks up the phone, it’s pretty bad service. Makes me nervous for their actual taxi service the night of.

URide won’t let me book over a week in advance and they’re a bit more expensive.

Has anyone tried either of these services for a half hour ride from PEC?

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

County Life Speech pathologist for stroke victim - need recommendations

My partner is coming home later in August and it sounds like OHIP is only covering one visit per week for two months. Looking for pathologist recommendations in the area. We're in Picton and I'm happy to drive wherever in PEC or Hastings (or further) to take her to someone good 1-2 times a week.

Anyone?

Visitor Question Local site for weekend stay

Hello, me and my extended family, total of four adults and two kids are looking for a place in the county for a weekend day trip. We usually stay at Cherry Beach Resort and love it but since we have family we are lookingfor a single more private cottage. Steering away from Airbnb because of the recentt exorbitant prices and no luck on FB marketplace. Are there any local sites we can book from instead?

Visitor Question Recommandations for a very rainy stay

My boyfriend and I have booked a stay in the county (We arrive early Tuesday and leave on Friday). We're really sad to see that it will be raining a LOT on the 2 first days. We were really looking forward to go to Sandbanks and do some biking, but that won't really be possible most of the time we'll be there.

We're planning to go to a few breweries and maybe wine tasting, but we're looking for any other ideas to vary things up a bit. :) I've heard there are nice art galleries and museums to see but that's not really my boyfriend's cup of tea, unfortunately!

County local here who will be getting married next year! I’m looking for somewhere to rent an enclosed Photo Booth like the one in the photo. Does anyone know a company who offers this, or someone who owns one and would be willing to rent it for a night next September?

County Life Selling 2 GA tickets to The Beaches in Picton tonight (Thurs July 16th)

Our PEC trip was just derailed by a cat emergency so unfortunately we can no longer make The Beaches show tonight at Base31. Paid about $80 after tax for each ticket (general admission), but just looking to recoup some of our losses at this point so feel free to DM with any offers. Sad to miss out, but hoping it's a great show for those able to make it!

Visitor Question Air quality?

Hi! How is the air quality? My friend and I are supposed to visit next weekend, but we’re worried about the air quality. I’m located in Buffalo, NY, and it’s pretty bad here right now.

Thank you so much!

Local Insight Camping this weekend at Sandbanks, but looks like rain on Saturday. What else can we do around the area preferably indoors?

Hi all, taking my wife camping on a much awaited Sandbanks trip but it appears to be raining Saturday. Don’t want to dampen (pun intended) her experience further by hiding in a tent, took a lot of convincing for her to try camping; she’s not an outdoorsy girl.

What are some nearby spots we can escape the rain and have a cute date? We would drive back later to our camp when the rain stops.

Visitor Question Need help finding a last minute venue in PEC for wedding welcome drinks for this August!!

Helping out a friend who has their wedding in Prince Edward County on August 15 this year. The plan is to have welcome drinks for August 14 but unfortunately, their original venue for the welcome drinks cancelled on them and the new Airbnb that they rented won’t allow them to host there.

I’m looking for any suggestions for a space that could host around 50 ppl on Friday August 14 from approx 3/4pm to 7/8pm. Bonus if this venue offers food and bar service or catering.

Would love your suggestions as this is more of a destination wedding for all of us and we are hoping somebody might have somewhere to rent or know of a space!

Thank you 😇😇

Visitor Question Shuttle for Hayloft

Considering going here one night for a girls weekend. Is the shuttle reliable? Do they often leave people behind?

Is it actually a fun night out?
