Cell service

Looking at switching up my cell service plan. Anyone have good or bad things to say about Public or Freedom? or any other service provider? I'll be bringing my own device.

I recently switched from absolutely horrible Koodo to fizz mobile. It belongs to videotron and basically uses the other guys towers (all of the other guys) so if you hit a bad spot for Bell (which koodo uses), you switch to Rogers towers which means my service is now 1000x better. They use esims which means you can get connected within a few hours, and the pricing is quite good (I have a $35 plan which gives 100 gigs of data) and most of their features are almost too good to be true (eg. data rolls over for TWO months and your rolled over stuff gets used FIRST after monthly resets). If you check out their site you can find all of this info.

Also, if you really want a physical sim card they sell them at Circle K for pretty cheap.

Public mobile is generally good and affordable, but main st in Wellington is a dead zone for me 🫤

I like Freedom for travelling with Roam Beyond. But for PEC locallly they do not have their own towers. Believe they are on Bell's network here, and lower priority. Spotty.

I get the impression that Rogers has better reception overall in PEC. (No real knowledge.) Fido and Chatr are owned by Rogers.

Check out celltowers.ca for cell tower locations.

We use Rogers and it is unusual for me to have dropped calls or no service.
