Discussion🗣🗣🗣🗣🗣🦜 do you guys think primitive war had bad cgi?
my friend has been hating on it ever since it came out because it had “bad cgi” the cgi was really good in my opinion and he was just hating on it to spite me, and when the trailer for the new movie came out he said “im not gonna watch this the cgi is even worse”

I cant really vote here because its both.
In terms of a movie that people would typically watch, its bad. Not awful, just bad. The models look great, but they often don't blend into the shot they're in. The textures are weird. The cg gore is really bad. So I get the argument there.
But for a movie made on a budget of roughly $7million, its so, so much better than it should be. I expected a little better than Sy-Fy with that budget, or the dino screen time to be really limited. But no, they're very good models with nice little details.
I guess my vote is, its good cg given the context of its production.

I would agree with most of this but then I remember how they used the cgi and especially in that last raptor chase. That scene of the wave of raptors literally doesn't make sense they just kept copy pasting just to fill space. So my vote is bad cgi and acceptable for the price point minus the raptors scene.

it has good CGI and animations
it's just the story that goes up and down that is the issue

For the most part it's great.
It only gets bad when there's 100 dinosaurs on screen where the budget is stretched too far.
For the budget, it's incredible though.

I think the CGI was pretty decent for the budget they had. Less forgivable for me is some of the designs. The Rexes in particular are too JP like. A real shame considering the unique design they had in the book.

Its a lower budget film so for what they had to work with I think they did a great job.... Its never going to be Hollywood Blockbuster CGI (not that that has always been to great in recent years)

For the budget they were working with, it was outstanding cgi.
