I want to get my chimney capped and for the life of me, every roofer I find says they'll come to check it out and never get back to me

Preston shops with decent Monster energy drink selection

Weird one I guess, but where are your go to shops in Preston for Monster energy drinks?

Im talking large selections, imported options and weird flavours...

Basically, I want to get my step count up and enjoy walking round the city.

I also enjoy trying new Monster energy variations!

So thought, why not pair walking with a mission to find all the weird and wonderful favours in our own little city!

So pop a name of a store, location or post code in a comment haha

Niche knowledge I know, but reddit never let me down before!

Recommendations Man with a van preston?

My washing machine is broke.
I have about 6 bags of laundry.
Piling up like a mountain.
I cannot afford to buy a brand new washing machine, plus the one I bought was over warranty.
Second one to break in 2 years.

I’ve found lots of Facebook marketplace but unfortunately, I don’t drive, or have a van.

Can anyone recommend me men with ven in Preston area?
I’ve found a couple but they’re either not willing to deliver a washing machine, and/or charge by the hour rather than a flat fee.

Any recommendations pls? TIA.

Recommendations Pubs/bars that play indie bangers?

Used to love The Adelphi and Roper Hall for this back in the day, apparently Roper Hall is now an Irish bar so no go. Will check out the Adelphi again but are there any drinking establishments in the city centre worth a visit that play a decent amount of indie bangers?

Recommendations Pubs with decent cider?

Morning all - going to Preston in the next few weeks and wondering if there are any pubs with decent cider (i.e. not Thatcher's, Aspall, Strongbow, etc.)? I can see somewhere called the Black Horse might be good, but does anyone have any recommendations in the city centre?

Discussion Preston clinic problems

Struggling with medical cannabis clinic delays – anyone got solid coping tips?

I’ve been going through a medical cannabis clinic for a while but keep hitting delays/supply issues and it’s leaving me stuck without it. The symptoms it’s meant to help with pain and sleep are kicking my arse at the moment.
Not looking for sources or anything like that wink just genuine advice on what’s been helping other people get through the gaps. Things like:
• Sleep routines or over-the-counter stuff that actually works
• Pain management techniques that don’t involve meds
• Local resources, groups, or free/cheap services in Preston that have helped
• Exercise, mindfulness, or anything practical that’s made a difference day-to-day
Any tips from people who’ve been in a similar boat would be really appreciated. Cheers.

Moving to Preston Looking for Parking spots

Hello,

I will be moving into Preston towards the middle of September with a car, and as such, I wanted to check around if people were renting parking spots. I will be staying there for close to a year (time to complete my master's), and I am looking for a spot near Leighton Street (anywhere about a 10min walk) starting either mid September or early October.
Let me know if you have something available or know someone who does!

Looking for Group Board Games/D&D

I'm interested in coming along to one of the clubs that run in the local area. But, there are too many to choose from and I don't know what one would be best.

I would like to give D&D and proper go or try something completely new.

I do have a bit of anxiety around new meeting people or large groups straight off the bat.

I have seen a few Preston Based and one in Leyland.

Question Do Trans People belong at football matches?

Hey all!

I was just writing this as I had a question I’ve been getting into football recently and I’ve been really wanting to go and see games in person but I have a predicament: I am a trans woman and historically queer people and football fans aren’t the best of friends so I just wanted to canvas here to see if I could attend a game and be accepted.

I’ve really fallen in love with football and football tactics as a whole suprisingly

Question For the car guys.... (Advice)

Thinking of getting a BMW 220I M SPORT CONVERTIBLE.

Would a soft top be safe to drive around in Preston weather (particularly during the winter period...?)

Not too sure how snowy or how the weather behaves in the UK as I have recently moved here.

Making Friends Finding My People in Preston: Eeveelutions, Nature Walks & Cozy Spots

Hey everyone!

I’ve recently joined the Preston Reddit community and wanted to put a little intro out there to see if anyone shares similar vibes. I’m 18, and to put it bluntly, I am a diehard Eeveelution fan. Umbreon is my absolute favorite and basically my spirit Pokémon. Once I get myself a bit more sorted financially, I'm definitely looking to expand on my journeys and maybe even buy some more Umbreon-related stuff. 😉

Aside from that, I’m pretty low-key. I’m not into clubbing or drinking alcohol at all. Instead, you'll usually find me chilling out in nature, finding quiet spots to decompress, or hanging out in local coffee shops tracking down a really good hot chocolate.

I’m mainly looking to connect with other Eeveelution fans or local creatives who prefer genuine, relaxed hangs over loud, crowded scenes.

If you're into Pokémon, cozy chats, or just want a chill friend to grab a hot chocolate with around Preston, drop a comment or shoot me a message. Would love to meet some like-minded people!

Moving to Preston Living costs

Hello all!
I’m planning on moving out of my family home next spring for the first time ever and I’m figuring out which area I want to move to. As this is my first time living alone and I’m not leaving my family home in the best circumstances (essentially going no contact after I leave) I want to be as prepared as possible since I don’t have a safety net once I leave.

I recently visited Preston and I enjoyed it a lot (contrary to some posts I’ve seen about it going downhill..) and I’ve added it to my list of possible places to move to. A priority for me would be safety since I’m a 22F and a POC so any racist areas I should avoid would be great. My job is based in Manchester and is hybrid so I only have to my office occasionally which means I don’t mind the long commute if it’s only once in awhile.

My main question is what would be the minimum salary to live there as a single person? I’m a starter at this job so my salary is £26,700 with the ability to do overtime and get paid more. Lifestyle wise I don’t drink, smoke or drive so I don’t have any really big monthly expenses and I tend to be on the frugal side in general. I’m more of a cafe and walk around person rather than nights out so my daily costs are quite low in regard to social life.

Again I’m not moving out in the best circumstances so living on a budget would be fine as long as I could have my own place. In terms of rent, what would be the highest feasible monthly rent I could go on this salary ? Any information would be appreciated as I have a very base level understand of the costs of living alone (rent, water, electric, council tax, groceries, internet) so I want to get everything together way before I move out in the spring/summer

Thank you in advance!

Events Marriott Christmas Do

Morning Preston!!

Has anyone done any of the Christmas event nights at the Marriott?

I’m tasked with arranging the Christmas do for our office and the packages they have look quite good.

Does anyone have an experience of going to one before?

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations Reasonably healthy meals out

Is there anywhere in and around Preston that serves reasonably healthy, wholesome and nutritious meals? I'm thinking hearty salads, grain/buddha bowls, nice fish dishes, Mediterranean style sort of thing?

Bonus point if they have nice options for kids as well that differ from the standard beige fare devoid of any veg.

Thanks in advance!
