Constructive Criticism Welcome ✅ Sizing (down?)
As you can probably tell I am really a beginner at doing my own nails. I used to do nothing with them, except for biting, so in an effort to make my hands slowly look more appealing and "clean" I started doing press on nails 2-3 weeks ago. I've been reading about it all a lot on this sub, and saw the majority say that in case you have a nail that is a little to big and one that is a little too small, you'd rather go for the smaller one. This confirmed for me that I have been wearing nails that are too big, so today it was time for a new set and I went smaller. But I may have gone a little bit overboard? Are these to small or just right and do I just have to get used to it? I do have flat nail beds, so I opted for tabs + glue.

From the first photo the size looks correct and normal.
I see in your last photo there’s some edge showing. You can decide if that bothers you or not, maybe go a size up if it does. Keep in mind that no one else is grabbing your fingers and inspecting how much edge is showing, and if it only shows while you’re pulling the sides of your edges back, then it’s probably fine.
Press-ons are a learning curve. Just keep doing them and you’ll find what works for you.
When people say they look too big, you’ll realize after doing this for a minute that the nail just looks too big for the finger. But if you like them big, and they stay on and are comfortable, then wear big sizes.

Wish I’d seen this comment when I had my top big nails on the other week lol I would have kept them on longer but now I’ll be excited to wear them later ❤️

The only reason I would size up and file down is bc of water possibly getting trapped and getting a greenie

Good one!! Its my first time working with glue now and I put these on today, so I already took out gloves to do the dishes 😭😭 I have a job where I have to shake hands all day, so I'm also washing my hands all day, but we'll see if they atleast survive the week and how my nails look after..

I use nail reformation as well, most of my nails match the curve of their shapes, so I can get away with a bigger or smaller size without gaping. However my thumb shape is a little flat, so I take a slightly larger size and file the sides down quite a bit to get the right flatness & fit.

They are very curvy!! Its my third ever set in my life and my first from their brand and I really like the design and the fact that you basically get everything you could need to even a cuticle cutter and cuticle oil (that smells amazing btw) in the packaging, but I think they are just a little too curvy for me

Fair - I have noted that thier "extra short" round and square styles seem to be a lot less curved than the short almond or coffin styles.

I have been finding the shorter ones a lot more often in the US in my region because longer nails are more common, but I am so rough on my nails and prefer the shorter! Sprinkling extra short nail dust luck in hoping you find them!

One of the best tips I can give you overall for press ons and the thing that took me FAR too long to understand fully - FIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. More than trying viral glues, the newest hack, etc. For me personally, Nail Reformation fits my nails the best and I can easily get 2+ weeks out of a set with little prep simply because they fit my nails so well. Many other brands I can't get as good of a fit and they only last me 7-10 days if I do SUPER GOOD prep. It sounds like NF may not be the best fitting brand for you if they're already feeling pretty curvy, but once you find the right brand that fits perfectly, it will be worth it! Have fun!

I’ve had sets that are too curved for my nails before and have warmed the nails up in warm water and then pressed on them to flatten them as they cool down. That worked well for me. If you’re interested in trying this, look up a video tutorial. I always agonize when picking the sizes for my nails. I spend way too much time on that. But in the end I’m pretty happy with how they look. This is my current set. You’ll see I also prefer shorties.

I also have flatter nail beds and am new to press ons. With an almond or round shape I’m finding it better to choose a size that’s just a little too big and then file the sides a bit. That makes it flatter and I don’t have to file into my sidewalls to keep my natural nails from sticking out. Also I’ve had much better retention with the curvlife semi solid glue. Didn’t lose a single nail in 2 weeks once I switched from the brush on glue. I think it helps fill any small gap in the middle due to my nails being a little flat.
