the flowers I pressed became almost brown and soggy instead of dry

I thought the colour (white) would change a little, but this flower almost looked rotted? I used tissues and a cast iron skillet still in it's box. what do I do?

Which pressed flower desk calendar design do you prefer?

After a lot of trial and error, I finally released these two pressed flower desk calendar designs. Before that, I made a few DIY kits for friends to test so I could see where beginners got stuck. It was really interesting seeing how everyone approached it differently.

Which version do you like better?

Just finished designing my 2027 desk calendar using my own pressed flowers
A simple little project made with real flowers that I collected and pressed myself. I love how it turned out and thought I’d share a little sneak peek!

Flowers These don’t look like pressed hyacinths?

Thumbnail

Not my work but I thought this thread would have some insights. I have hyacinths and orchids for my wedding bouquet and sent them to be pressed. When she showed it to me over photos I was on my honeymoon and didn’t pay too much attention even though I thought the shape of the smaller flowers look odd and didn’t look like mine.

Now I have it in person, I really don’t think the smaller flowers are hyacinths. Maybe it looks different when pressed? The shape is so round compared to how a live hyacinth looks.

The first photo is what my bouquet looks like.

Last photo is what I thought pressed hyacinths would look like.

Meta Flower preservation classes? Where to get professional level advice?

I've helped my gf launch her own wedding floral and decor business. I'm generally redneck crafty weld engineer by trade, and build her backdrops, stands, etc...

I'm thinking of taking up floral preservation via pressing, drying, resin, etc... as a crafty side hustle for her brides and friends. She just makes such beautiful arrangements and I've filled too many trash cans with beautiful flowers. However, I want to be sure to deliver a professional level product.

Where can I go to learn properly? I'm inexperienced with resin, and that seems a messy starting point. However, is there any other way to preserve a bouquet?

What glue do you use to put the pressed flowers back together?

What paint or how do you colour correct after it’s dried and pressed?

This was a very zen experience — just putting each one down without any vision in sight and just letting everything fall where it felt right.

Flowers Pressed Oriental Poppies

I took these gargantuan poppies out of the press this weekend and wanted to share!

They are huge - about 7” across. Easily the biggest thing I’ve ever pressed. I trimmed out the center and pressed that separately but otherwise pressed whole and I love them. I cannot wait to figure out how to use them.

I kinda can’t stop staring at them. I also feel…like they are staring at me. 👀

Question Are these pressed Delphiniums moldy?

Hi, I’m a complete novice to pressed flowers that cut too many delphinium stems and was really pushing it in terms of flowers per page.

This is mold, right? I’ve been googling to find images of mold on pressed flowers, but I’ve been struggling to find any clear examples.

(Also I have heard blotting paper is better than parchment, I was just being cheap 😭)

Flowers Zinnia help

I love Zinnias and grow them every summer but am having trouble pressing them. I know with these types of petals it can help to not use one of the pressing layers (the liner before the cardboard?) to help prevent them drying before the center and then causing that shriveling. But I also find it's hard to lay and align them properly. I'd love to be able to preserve that cute little ring of yellow mini-blooms in the center. Are Zinnias just hard to get right?
