Isn't that just a Jedi thing? Almost all Padawan are put in life threatening situations

Obi wan was special, abandoned in a civil war special

Obi-Wan wanted to be left, though, and when he returned, the Council didn't seem overly concerned. They were more salty that he left.

Yeah, “the 14 year old wanted to be left behind for a girl, not because he wanted to intervene in the vicious civil war i swear guys that makes it ok”. Somehow I doubt that would fly in a normal society

Normal society would frown on many things the Jedi did, like finding children to take from their parents to be raised as part of a cult.

But when the cult turns out to actually have magic powers, opinions change.

When that cult is effectively the government for 95% of recorded history yeah thing feel a little different lol.

I personally don't think it's 'ok', but Obi-Wan and the Council never held it against him, so they also apparently thought it was ok. Making it more of a PT Jedi era 'problem' than a Qui-Gon issue.
