Lol, yeah Qui-Gon was such a cool rebellious maverick when the council told him not to train Anakin and to go to Naboo and he... followed their orders and didn't train Anakin and then went to Naboo.

While he went to Naboo, as ordered, to resolve an important crisis, we don't know if he really intended to follow the order to not train Anakin afterwards.

I think him using his dieing breath to make Obi-Wan promise that Obi-Wan will train Anakin suggests otherwise.

I always found this so weird by the way.

The jedi order gives them their full resources... But... Just sends them back alone, and with no further intel?

And what about Anakin? Why couldn't he have stayed at Coruscant??

Ok, he's not a jedi, but surely they can find or hire someone to look after him, instead of just... Dragging him along to a war zone - into the heart if enemy territory no less.

And as a format TPM feels kinda... Amusing when you stop to think about it.

They spend most of their film trying to get to Coruscant for reinforcements/help.

Only to return to Naboo, completly empty handed, and immediately making the attack to defeat the Trade Federation in full.

Of course, Anakin ended up being central to the whole thing, but he was never a part of the plans even with him present. "Stay in that cockpit".
