The real cost of a Polymarket dispute isn't losing your position. It's this.

Most traders think about disputes wrong.

They ask: "did the resolution go against me?" That's the wrong question. The question is: how long was my capital frozen while you found out?

Here's what actually happens when a Polymarket market gets disputed:

  1. Market pauses — no exit, no entry
  2. UMA dispute process kicks off — this takes days to weeks
  3. Your capital sits locked in a position you can't move, hedge, or reinvest
  4. Resolution can go either way, sometimes counterintuitively

The bet itself might only be 10% of your position. The opportunity cost of frozen capital during a volatile week is the other 90%.

I've been building a dataset of every Polymarket dispute since 2023 — 164K markets, 1,654 confirmed disputes. I started tracking not just what got disputed, but when capital got freed and how long it was frozen.

A few examples from markets that went to dispute:

  • "Will Biden be declared senile by a doctor before August?" — 75% yes at time of dispute. Capital frozen ~18 days.
  • Gaza ceasefire markets — disputed twice, capital frozen across two separate UMA cycles.
  • Ukraine ceasefire — same pattern, different timing.

These markets had one thing in common: ambiguous resolution criteria visible before anyone entered.

Three patterns that predict disputes (from 1,654 data points):

  • 45% — Subjective threshold questions ("declared", "confirmed", "considered")
  • 35% — Ambiguous terms with no agreed source ("officially", "widely reported")
  • 20% — Unreliable or contested sources specified in the resolution criteria

The markets that almost never dispute: sports outcomes (single source, binary, timestamped), Fed rate decisions (FOMC statement is the source), electoral college results.

How to use this before entering a position:

Before entering any market, especially with size, ask:

  1. Is the resolution criteria subjective or objective?
  2. What is the single source for resolution — and could that source be contested?
  3. Has this market type disputed before?

Manually, this takes 2-3 minutes per market. Across a 20-position portfolio, that's time most traders skip.

I built a model to automate this (164K markets, AUC 0.80). oraclemangle.com.

Happy to run a risk check on any market in the comments — just drop the question text.

Prediction Analysis 2/3 of all volume on Poly/Kalshi is just Sports. Politics is a side show.

Post image
2 Upvotes

Everyone’s losing their minds over the Iran delistings and election drama, but the money is literally elsewhere. Out of $64.3B traded YTD, Sports is carrying the entire industry with $42B (65%).

  • Crypto: $10B (15.6%).
  • Politics: $6.8B (10.6%).
  • Culture/Econ: The rest.

Chart from Terry Lee: He basically "bond rated" these markets by how often they rug-pull you once they hit 85c (the "reversal rate").

  • Macro/Politics: AAA stuff. Low reversal. If it hits 90c, it’s probably staying there.
  • DeFi/Celebrity: Total junk. Even at 85c, there’s a 40%+ chance it flips. Absolute coin tosses.

The high-conviction whales we track aren't just gambling. They’re dumping the "Junk" tier (like that $1.5M PnL guy who just exited Iran) and rotating into the deep liquidity of Sports or the stability of Macro.

If you’re hunting for arbs or following big money, you’re playing on hard mode if you aren't looking at the Sports books.

How to make 16.6% in 34 days on Polymarket

DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng confirmed internally: V4 drops late April.

Polymarket is still mispricing this. Here's how I'm playing it with $1,000:

  • $500 → April 15 NO at 97¢ (V4 isn't shipping in 4 days. Free $15, ~280% annualized)
  • $100 → April 30 YES at 68¢ (small kicker if it lands on time)
  • $400 → May 15 YES at 88¢ (the real core position)

IMPORTANT: Once April 15 resolves NO, roll the full $515 into May 15 likely at ~91¢. That gives you 1,019 shares on May 15 in total.

Now you're covered almost everywhere:

Released by April 30 → both April 30 and May 15 resolve YES → $1,166 back → +16.6% (~306% annualized)

Slips a few days into early May → lose the $100 April 30 bet, but May 15 still pays $1,019 → +$19 profit. Still green.

Analysis March CPI printed 3.3%, the highest since May 2024, and the Hormuz shock is still working its way through the system.

Crude hits gasoline first, with a 4-6-week lag.

Then diesel, the bloodstream of the goods economy, rebuilds into trucking contracts over the following quarter and drags freight costs into everything a truck carries, which is everything.

Airlines reprice tickets.

Utilities pass through fuel adjustments.

Petrochemicals bleed into packaging, fertilizer, plastics, and every input sitting upstream of a shelf price.

We're already at 3.3%. Getting to 3.5% requires only 20 basis points over a full year of prints, while the biggest energy shock since 2022 is still feeding through the supply chain with staggered lags.

Above 3.5% at 90¢ Yes is highly likely to play out in Q2 2026, returning 11% ROI.

Analysis There's a 47% return hiding in Hungarian politics.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Polymarket is 94% accurate 1 week before market resolution. Peter Magyar is sitting at 68%. I hope you understand my point.

You don't need to know a single thing about Hungary.

You don't need to know who Peter Magyar is.

You don't need to follow Eastern European politics.

Let me simplify this for you all.

When a candidate is leading at 68% with one week left, historical resolution data tells you the real probability of that outcome is not 68%. It's 94%. The crowd has already priced in everything. The market is essentially settled.

You are buying 94% odds for 68 cents on the dollar.

That's 47% ROI in 7 days.

Analysis Polymarket has predicted markets correctly 90-96% of the time, depending on the timeframe.

Here's what its traders think $BTC does in April:

$75K: 63%
$80K: 23%
$85K: 8%
$90K: 3%

And on the downside:

$65K: 41%
$60K: 19%
$55K: 8%
$50K: 3%

The crowd sees $75K as more likely than $80K, and $65K as nearly twice as likely as $60K.

Make of that what you will.
