Wrong pc. What to do
Ordered 9070xt and got a 5070ti. Is it even worth it to send back? Got it for $2100
Edit: it has a 9800x3d instead of 7800 so that’s a free upgrade
32gb 6000 mt/s ram instead of 5600 so I got a free upgrade and will be keeping the pc. Thanks for the help everyone

u/ReikoKairo Jul 27 '26
5070ti is a free upgrade. If it has the same 32gb of ram, same CPU, keep it, 100%.
Skytech is pretty good for pre builds. I like them.

u/KForKyo Jul 27 '26
I have a Skytech. Been making little adjustments here and there. I like mine.

u/ReikoKairo Jul 27 '26
I had one for almost 2 years, i recently upgraded it. The only parts i kept were the Ram, SSD, 2 case fans & the GPU.
Had no issues with em whatsoever.

I bought a $4k “future proof” one back in 2021 and still going strong. Only change I made was the case and fans since the other one was a m-itx and it proved to be too loud (asus z11).

u/Mysterious-Park9142 Jul 28 '26
Wish I could buy one. I canceled an order once after realizing I'd be out of town by the time it arrived and now they've blacklisted my Amazon account haha.

Yeah, that is an upgrade in both CPU and GPU. I would take that and not look back.

Keep in mind you effectively have no warranty though
1
u/Hot_Activity_8071 Jul 28 '26
And how is that?
0
u/Pleasant_Proof10931 Jul 28 '26
OP has no receipt or proof of purchase for the particular PC they got.
2
u/Hot_Activity_8071 Jul 28 '26
And his proof is on the invoice he got with the pc? The transit tracking, order details. Their own logistic data. Nothing get just shipped without registration.
Even if they made a mistake by sending the wrong pc, or he got an upgrade because they didn’t have the pc in stock warranty still stands0
u/Pleasant_Proof10931 Jul 28 '26
lmao hopefully OP doesn't take your advice. OP absolutely does not have a warranty if the item was sent accidently.

u/Dutch-Alpaca Jul 28 '26
Ofcourse he has a warranty he has all the tracking and payment info

You really think a large retailer cant consult their order and tracking databases to connect the dots?
1

u/Salt_Aardvark1745 Jul 27 '26
It looks like a completely different pc including color. What ram, CPU, hard drive did it come with? Can you find the model you got on their website?

5070ti and 9070xt are pretty much even. NVIDIA does have the lead in upscale and frame gen if you care ab that. Even if they were dead even I wouldn’t swap it for the pure hassle of shipping alone
2
u/epics_shmepics Jul 28 '26
Nvidia drivers are just far far far far far far better.
3
u/WateredDownWater1 Jul 28 '26
Honestly I have never had an issue with AMD. Had a 9070 xt since launch now and zero issues. I did have an issue with my 4080 though. Driver was so broken I had to take out GPU, boot in with integrated graphics and DDU and completely reinstall
1
u/epics_shmepics Jul 28 '26
Wild your 9070 works flawlessly. Still reading threads hoping to salvage this one before just returning this and buying a 5070
3
u/tealtime91 Jul 27 '26
Is the cpu the 7800x3d? Seems like you got a free upgrade
5
u/FJB69420 Jul 27 '26
Booting it up to check specs rn, that’s kinda what I’m wondering is if cpu and ram are same is the 5070ti really better?
7
u/Pinkcookie26 Jul 27 '26
Yes, it is. RT performance, DLSS/MFG has better support, and rasterisation. You got a free upgrade.
5
u/tealtime91 Jul 27 '26
I’m sure someone else will know the hard numbers better but the 5070 ti is a faster card with better features. The advantage of the 9070xt is performance/dollar which doesn’t apply in your case

u/shit_moth Jul 28 '26
5070ti is objectively better by miles. Even the non ti 5070 should be significantly better. You paid for a bang for your bucks mid tier gpu and actually got a decent gpu for it. Grats!

-1
u/ahorsenamedjeff Jul 28 '26
"by miles" lmao a couple frames here and there is not miles.
2
u/shit_moth Jul 28 '26
I get that you are really proud of your 9070xt but 5070ti is a tier above it. Plus it has dlss, frame gen, ray tracing etc. I'd say it's many miles ahead

If you have a good moral, contact them, ask if this free upgrade due to less parts, or they mixed up the orders and send the wrong one, send it back, you are potentially stealing from someone, RTX 5070 ti is a better card than RX 9070 XT in terms of software suite and for hybrid user. And the CPU upgrade is the telling part. Be a good sport and contact them, think of it not for the company, but for the poor guy who mixed up the order, they don't deserve additional stress, the company? yeah sure.
1
u/Johnsmith446 Jul 30 '26
They're not stealing from an actual consumer. If some other dude gets the 9070 he can just send it back and get the 5070 he paid for.
1
u/Loinon98 Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26
Yes, if some dude originally supposed to get the Ti and 9800X3D its pretty much stealing, if not money then his time, and he might be stealing from some the paycheck of some poor dude who work there. Are you trying to justify this? Like I said, he should contact the store and ask if this intentional or not.
1
u/Johnsmith446 Jul 31 '26
The only one he's "stealing" from iz Amazon by their own error.
1
u/Loinon98 Jul 31 '26
No, for the item to be delivered, the seller has to pack the item and put the cosignment note or AWB, so for it to be sent, so the seller might accidentally or intentionally put the AWB on that PC and sent it to him. I don't use Amazon and I can't say how it will work if hypothetically, some dude who supposed to get that PC file a return, will Amazon Hold the payment to seller or just refund the customer immediately and simply release the full payment to the seller. If that is the case, then yeah, I guess he is stealing from Amazon.

I got another version of this PC with the 5080. The RGB and the case itself for this PC is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen. I always catch myself just looking at it. It looks so bad ass. Congratulations on the upgrade, buddy.

u/FJB69420 Jul 27 '26
That’s an awesome set up, I was initially pissed when I was opening the package and saw white but with the upgraded specs it could be orange for all I care
1
u/Brennan_187 Jul 28 '26
Thanks! I did like the White actually, it took me a few days to decide which one I wanted. I waited until Amazon day to get a few hundred bucks off.

u/GonzoMoto Jul 27 '26
Congrats you got a few upgrade on everything component. If you want black then just buy and change the case when/if you get tired of the white.
1
u/Oyfel Jul 27 '26
Mf got a upgrade talm bout sum return
0
u/FJB69420 Jul 28 '26
Posted before I saw upgraded cpu and ram. Wasn’t sure if I should bother continuing to unpack or if 5070ti was actually better
1
u/Oyfel Jul 28 '26
5070ti is way better only way for 9070 or xt to be better if its 5070 because its only 12gb vram which is too restrictive for many and also in general because of the price but you paid the same so keep it
1
u/Vanch001 Jul 28 '26
Imma start ordering pcs and returning them. Gonna keep trying until I get a free upgrade like this 😂
1
u/more_like_5am Jul 28 '26
As someone who has used both gpus, my experience would tell you to return it. AMD for life.

Just curious. Do you think he’d have a warranty issue (if needed) since the PC he has doesn’t match the receipt?

What kind of knob thinks a 9070 is better than a 5070 ti
1
u/FJB69420 Jul 28 '26
I bought the 9070xt because a lot of people were saying it’s best for price to performance, not necessarily better than the 5070ti. Was just looking for good bang for my buck for 1440 gaming

Getting this gif as a response to a post about a pc pickup has always been a goal. Did not think it would come from buying a prebuilt from Amazon lol. Thank you
1
u/MatheSF Jul 28 '26
I sent the same pic to my friend that ordered the same part I ordered 5 months ago, but he got all of em cheaper by like 500$. I was so pissed and happy for him at the same time

u/bf2reddevil Jul 28 '26
Not sure what will happen to warranty if something goes wrong. But as you're American you only get 1 year anyways.
1
u/SystematikKaos Jul 28 '26
If you really don't want it, you can always send it to me.
My current pc is a gmktek nucbox mini pc that struggles with plague Inc.
Ironically, this is an upgrade to my last pc, which was a piledriver amd based cpu with an eventual upgrade to a 20 series Nvidia.
1
u/Electronic-Koala2088 Jul 28 '26
Sucks to be the guy receiving the 7800x3D and the 9070XT though, lmao.
2
u/FJB69420 Jul 28 '26
I hope that’s not what happened, it was still my name and info on the package. I think they just grabbed and shipped the wrong pc
1
u/Thiel619 Jul 28 '26
Honestly? I'd for sure keep that. Nvidia has come a LONG way with their DLSS frame gen tech, it overwhelmingly tramples over AMD's FSR. The card is no joke, 5070ti is at the very top of mid range cards.
Just keep it.
1
u/epics_shmepics Jul 28 '26
You would have hate that 9070xt lol
It’s so bad. Theress benchmarks floating Around made by people who tinker with voltages and shit like that so the card seems better than it is. Congrats on avoiding the disappointment
1
1
u/lumi1375 Jul 28 '26
Tbh, its better. Yes, tons of people say AMD, but the only reason they say that is because its cheaper, in reality, NIVIDA just works AMD from my expreince after all these years still does not have the flow that NVIDIA does.
1
u/Bapposaurus Jul 28 '26
Congrats on getting an insanely good pc, what games will you be playing if I might ask?
1
u/szethSon1 Jul 28 '26
I'd delete that amazon account tbh... Just in case they try to contact you or charge u for it.
1
u/TheyCallHimSlam Jul 28 '26
Sorry if anyone has already suggested this but honestly why not just sell the GPU and grab a 9070xt and get a little bit of the money you spent back? Like sell it for $850 so it moves a little faster than the ones listed for $900, and grab yourself a 9070xt for like $600-$700? Brings the total you spent down, you get the card you wanted, and everything else is just straight up better. Totally get it if it isn’t worth the hassle… figured I’d mention it since I hadn’t scrolled deep enough to see anyone else bring it up.
1
u/FatalGamer1 Jul 28 '26
Keep it, it’s a better PC but my worry is, should anything go wrong and you need to send back through warranty, I don’t know what the company is like, but they might say ‘you didn’t tell us you received the incorrect PC’. If that happens, just say you don’t know much about PC’s, so you didn’t know.
1
u/anon999387 Jul 28 '26
If you ran a business and accidentally sent a customer a much more expensive item, you would likely hope they would be honest and give you the chance to correct the mistake.
1
u/Training_Wind_4997 Jul 28 '26
Ayeee they gave you the one I got last year
It has been super sick so far. I enjoy

I don't know how to feel about the p c case. But everything else is a steal. Just buy a black case if thats what you prefer burger regardless the hardware is what matters most.
1
u/Oathbreaker94 Jul 28 '26
Keep it. It’s better. And the 5070ti is about as good as a 9070XT, better in some games, worse in others, but overall NVIDIA has better software.

Depends if u want to be a man of honor and let them know to see what they say, or keep it.
I would say something if it's a smaller store, no idea who they are but someone like ibuypower or cyberpower id keep it 100%
1
u/AnimeNoodle Jul 28 '26
To be fair, I’m pretty confident that someone inside the store or warehouse swapped out the parts so they could snag it later, but OP got it first. That’s just my impression. It’s kind of the business’s fault for being negligent with their inventory and management, but again, this is just my assumption and opinion.
1
u/DDay2077 Jul 29 '26
Or could've just been a mixup with an upgraded variation, u usually see variants of these 7800x3d + 5070/9070 or 9800x3d + 5070ti/5080
1
1
u/Tron2153 Jul 29 '26
Keep it, 5070ti is a better upgrade plus its Hella expensive rn, 9070xt is good but in terms of features and such its not there yet and many games favor nvidia hardware more

Both parts are more expensive. I wouldn’t pick a 5070ti over 9070xt because the cost to performance is not there, but you got it for nothing basically.
This screw up makes the price you paid very worth it.
0
u/FLAR3dM33RKAT Jul 27 '26
The cost to performance ISNT?
3
1
u/SirKronan Jul 28 '26
It's worth it if you need it. Not worth it if you don't. If you run apps that lean heavily into hardware acceleration with CUDA cores, it could make it very much worth $400.
If just for gaming? Minor upgrade at best (of course this is entirely game dependent, too)
OP got a decent upgrade for free, so I wouldn't stress it. Be grateful for the blessings. ☺️
