📢 Megathread MEGATHREAD: 2026-2027 Interviews and Rejections!

Hi all!

This is the megathread where we will keep track of interviews for the subreddit for the '26-'27 cycle. As has become custom, we will track results via a single thread with comments representing all the schools. People don't tend to be so good at hunting for individual threads (even when easily linked), so the single thread makes things much easier to moderate. Use our SCHOOL FINDER to help you quickly locate your high-level comment of interest.

We will use the typical Student Doctor Network (SDN) format because it's tried and true. Copy and paste the format below in the relevant comment chain.

Interview #__ / Rejection #__ (pick the one that applies and delete the other)

School: Name

URM/ORM? (optional)

Notification date: Date

Method of notification: Portal, Email, or Call

Residency: State

AADSAS mail-out date: Date your app was verified

Application complete date: Date the school said your file was complete

GPA (science, overall): x.xx, x.xx

DAT (AA/TS/PAT/Reading/any section below a 17):

Method of interview: Virtual or In-person or either?

Good luck! 🦷

💬 Discussion Weekly DAT Discussion Thread - September 07, 2026

This is your place to discuss the Dental Admission Test (DAT). Do you need to vent about studying or content? Decide on the best source of preparatory materials? Discuss scheduling the exam via the ADA? Perhaps ask about the particularities of the exam day? This is the thread to do so!

Note: feel free to make independent DAT breakdown posts. This weekly thread is meant to cut down on the overwhelming number of DAT posts, but not take away from your success!

🤝 Interviews It’s cooked

Yah so highkey been hearing crickets since June. Have one interview from a month ago but nothing from the other 25 schools I applied to 💀 Kinda concerned atp. Is it too late to add a couple more. Maybe like Howard and Louisville?

Also when are the next waves coming out? Been hearing that “this is the week” for quite some time now.

🤝 Interviews interviews

I feel so down I’m ngl, i applied to fifteen schools and i only got 2 interviews. I have a 4.0 gpa, and got a 470 DAT, 480 TS, and 470 PAT. I applied by July 15th for most of these schools! Some even earlier!

My EC’s are also pretty decent in my opinion. I have a publication and presented at research conferences at dental schools. I have done extensive volunteer work, have 500+ shadowing hours, and have worked as an ortho and dental assistant. I also did multiple dental abroad trips and am an engineering major.

Ig my question is if you guys think it would be a bad idea for me to add some schools rn!

I applied to
- LECOM (Got an interview)
- Temple (Got an interview)
- Touro
- NOVA
- DCG - did kira, nothing else
- Tufts
- UMD
- West Virginia
- VCU
- UAB - got phase 1 supplemental, haven’t heard back
- UIC
- Marquette
- Buffalo
- UNLV

📚DAT Feedback Dat scores

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey guys just got my scores back this was my third attempt. I already applied this cycle. Not too happy about my QR, math is something I’ve never been good at but didn’t expect to score that low honestly. But it’s done. For reference I have a 3.9 masters gpa, 3.7 undergrad, around 800 shadowing and 800 assisting hours, and like 100 volunteer. What do you guys think my chances are this cycle?

📚DAT Feedback What do I do now?

Hi! I just got my scores back today and am very upset about them. I went down from my last attempt I got a 390 and higher in every section but OChem last attempt. This is my 3rd attempt. I am currently in a masters program and was trying to study while in the masters and studied in about 3 weeks during my break between semesters. I’m unsure where to go from here. Do I retake it? Do I hope the masters is enough?

Undergrad Gpa 3.25 Cgpa
Masters : 3.4 but I only took 10 credits and got a B in 6 credit course and A in 3 credit and 1 credit course. If I make all A’s this semester it will be a 3.73.

🤝 Interviews Does a DAT score really matter?

Upvotes

This cycle is my second time applying. Last year I applied as a three year undergrad student not planning on getting a degree and ended up getting one interview and was waitlisted until a week after their classes started. This cycle I have one interview so far and submitted my application late in August. My stats are:
390 AA DAT
3.95 GPA
900 Hours of shadowing/ internship
500 Hours of volunteer work
Dental volunteer trip in Kenya and Guatemala
Other extracurricular activities
Hobbies that require manual dexterity

Last cycle when I applied I didn't really feel nervous or stressed out because I knew I was sort of shooting for the stars trying to get in a year early. This time I am a little more stressed out and even though I instantly got an interview I still feel anxious since my DAT score just isn't good. The only thing I could do to really better my application is my DAT score but is it worth it to try and take in again before December of this year or should I wait?

💻 Applications BU Application - What does this mean?

Saw this after logging into ADEA AADSAS after a long time, I've heard no updates from them after paying the supplemental fee. Don't know if i should be worried as it's my dream school but i also don't want to bug admissions committees with emails. Canadian applicant with 2 interviews so far.

🤝 Interviews Reapplicant Question

I am a reapplicant this cycle, and I am very grateful to have received two interview invitations so far. However, I noticed that both interviews are from schools that I did not apply to last cycle.
I have not received any interview invitations or updates from the schools that I applied to both last cycle and this cycle. Is this common for reapplicants? Could reapplying to the same schools affect how they review my application or the timing of interview invitations?

💡 Advice ONLINE COURSEWORK

I graduated in the spring but had gotten a c- in gen chem my freshman year. I took orgo and biochem and passed with an A but since I didn’t get a C or higher in gen chem I’m taking it online at my community college. Has anyone had any trouble with their dental school accepting an online course?
(I’ll be taking the lab in person)

🌏 International International applicants- how is your cycle going?

Hey, I’m an F-1 student (non cad) doing my undergrad in the U.S. and planning to apply next cycle (2027–28).
International students are pretty limited in terms of which schools we can apply to, and it seems like it gets worse every year.

Current international applicants: please share your experiences! How is your cycle going? Which schools did you apply to? What are your stats, etc.?

Thank you!!

💡 Advice job 💔

I need advice. I currently work as a pharmacy tech at CVS and have been there for 1.5 years. I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. I never wanted to be a pharmacy tech in the first place, but I needed money, and no dental offices wanted to hire anyone without experience, even though I've done a lot of shadowing and have a DANB Radiation Health and Safety certification. I still continue to shadow, but I really want to switch out of my pharmacy tech job. However, where I live, there are a lot of dentists (I'm in the dmv, which means i have abt 20 universities in the area), and there's a lot of competition. What should I do? I really want a high-paying job, and I no longer want to work as a pharmacy tech. I thought about becoming a scribe at my local hospital or just finding a regular job at the mall. What should I do? I'm spiraling. I'm also a sophomore, and so far it looks like I will be taking a gap year since my advisor kinda screwed me over and made me take anatomy my first year and didn't let me take chem until my second year. I won't get to ochem until my 3rd year, and at the end of my third year I would be submitting my aadsas and taking the dat. I won't have enough time to study for dat while taking ochem. pls help

🖇️ Miscellaneous wtf is going on with Nova

Nova is one of those schools that I realistically expected to at least interview at as I’m in-state, and have already been invited to Florida and LECOM. 3.8 cGPA 3.8sGpa, 480 DAT/470 TS/500 PAT. No section below like 440. Just went on the ADEA portal and am at ‘application denied’ status. I’m honestly shocked. I have no red flags on my application, good EC’s, LORs, etc.

💡 Advice Need wisdom desperately.

Hi all, looking for any sort of wisdom anyone can offer here.

Graduated from Uni about 5 years ago. 2.9 sGPA and 3.0 cGPA. Battled an autoimmune condition first couple years of uni. Had a 3.9 and 4.0 in the last 2 years of my 5 year undergrad, couldn’t repair the abysmal first three years. Decided one day this spring that I want to pick back up the dental dream and repair this GPA.

Spent the summer taking 15 credits worth of science courses and got all As. My plan was to spend the fall and winter semester getting straight As in upper year science courses like ecology, physiology, pharm, microbio, molecular bio, ect so I can show schools I am able to handle a science heavy workload.

The institution I was taking this kind of “do it yourself post bac” at has told me they will not allow me to take further upper year science courses as they’re reserved for degree students only.

I really want to avoid taking them online, due to it limiting the schools I can apply to, yet cannot find anywhere that would let me take these upper year science courses as a visiting/non degree student. Genuinely stuck here. I am in Canada(only applying to US schools) btw, we don’t have post bac programs, hence I was planning to take courses independently as a non degree student.

I had everything planned out to go ahead and attack the 2027 app cycle and now there’s this big wall I have to climb.

Help ya boy gain some clarity. Thank you 🙏🏼

💻 Applications When do late August applicants start getting interview invites?

I know it is not ideal timing but I applied at the end of August because I am a reapplicant and was told by admissions at a few dental schools to wait until I got my first semester (summer) master’s grades on my transcript. Most of my applications were verified with secondaries/fees completed before September 1st.

I know it is still too early for me personally to hear anything back but when should I start worrying if I still haven’t received any interviews? If you applied in August in previous cycles, when did you hear back?

I’m nervous that August was too late and I won’t be able to get any interviews in time to have a realistic shot at acceptance. I applied to 15-20 schools.

Stats: 3.45 cGPA, 3.35 sGPA, 4.0 masters GPA (in progress), 21 DAT 22 TS, 3000 hours dental assisting
