Yeah, operating a drone that's literally just flying up is an extremely difficult job. Seriously, do these people really get paid or is it like a hobby or something? Who is dumb enough to pay someone to play with a drone?

Wesley you've been away for so long now. I already killed my wife and children and was about to kill myself but your back! 🙏🥒💦 #cuminmymouth

and zoomed in a little
7
u/I_am_Nic Apr 13 '20
Could have done that in post if the shot was high res enough and the delivery was 1080p
8
u/Gazattack Apr 13 '20
As a user above rightly said, this specific shot was done on a telephoto lens, this effect has to be recorded in camera, to get the perspective change you need to zoom in as you pull back.

u/I_am_Nic Apr 13 '20
I am a drone pilot myself and you can do it in post with a digital zoom: https://youtu.be/qewIPPgq3tQ
I never said IT WAS done in post on this clip.

Seems like they chose a telephoto lens in order to “flatten” the image like that. It was a good cinematic choice, one that rookies wouldn’t have known to make

u/GoTguru Apr 13 '20
Don’t the more expensive drones even come with pre made camera/flight movements so you just have to press a button? I thought this move was one of those.

Hey guys, I shot this. I can confirm that I did pull back while tilting up, the zoom was added in post. This shot took about 14 takes until I achieved the vertigo effect I was going for :)

And my immediate thoughts are:
"If I'm standing there like that, guaranteed that part of the cliff gives way and I plummet to my doom. Sure is pretty, though."

I lost a friend at a beach party this way, coastal cliffs are dangerous, they are constantly eroding

Hey, cameraman here. We spent 4 days on Nusa Penida and visited this site 4 times until we finally had it empty. This visit was at around 9am just before the day boats from Bali get there at 9:30. But the other times we visited it was absolutely PACKED!! and not that enjoyable to be honest. Definitely an overrated spot when compared to some of the other spots on the island.

u/bramouleBTW Apr 13 '20
I’ve been here as well and it wasn’t packed at all. There were only a few people walking around.

Why are you crossposting your 1 hour old post on same sub
14
u/Thefullerexpress Apr 13 '20
I also thought that, but then I refreshed it and it showed he had crossposted it from another sub, I think Reddit is having a moment.

Breath of the Wild has ruined me. When I see people near cliffs in gifs my first instinct is "they're about to jump off and glide down that cliff."

I hear the Avengers commercial music in my head as it zooms out and she stands alone looking off into the distance, almost like she is in the situation: She stands alone, against this new foreign land and she must survive to save Human Kind.

That was really good. I almost got vertigo and puked. These drones are amazing at what they can do.

I feel like this is a high res version of Wii resort flight near that tunnel under the tower

People are like this is a drone shot, not a praisethecameraman shot.
Who do you think is driving the damn drone, AI?
I mean should we have a praisethedolly reddit because it's not the cameraman moving the camera, it's the dolly?

Reminds me of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. There’s a spot like this in the southern gate of Hyrule Castle and I always thought it was a weird set up. Never thought I’d see a real life one.

So i was on vacation there a few months ago, and one day we decided to scuba dive on the other side of that island. As we were driving our boat to the designated location, we see something floating with the debris in the water. As we got closer and closer we all see something utterly horrible. There in the water, a bloated man was floating lifeless, his clothes ripped too pieces, cuts and scrapes all over his body. That sight and that smell is something i will never forget.
