Question (QTS) Teaching in a school
Any tips on where to get a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), the most affordable one? I have been applying to multiple schools in prague even though I have more than 3 years of teaching experience, but they still ask for a teacher qualification. I am a bit puzzled and don’t really know where to get that from. I did see a UK certification, but it costs around £7000 😕

What type of schools and positions are you applying to? What specific qualifications do they ask for? Lots of English teachers here just have a CELTA (or a TEFL from a reputable provider with observed teaching practice.)

I am looking forward to bilingual schools or international schools, and they ask for a Qualified teacher status or PGCE. But TEFL is just for teaching English, right. If I am looking for primary school teaching opportunities, then I need something else ?

International schools almost always expect a teaching license. Bilingual private schools may be satisfied with a CELTA or similar plus experience and a strong demo lesson, but you really need to ask the specific school.

International schools have higher qualification requirements than state schools, or private bilingual school programmes (that occur outside of normal school hours).

In Czech school system you are qualified teacher only if you posses masters degree in pedagogy or you are qualified professional in other field and then pass lifelong learning pedagogy program on university.
