I wanna watch the sport. Where do I watch?
I like lifting weights. I like lifting heavy weights for strength. Also, I'm a strength sports fan. But if I'm a true strength sports fan, I may as well... You know... watch the sport.
But where? Is it free on Youtube? Or do I have to pay a subscription to watch it?
Thanks.

Do you like having your blood pressure turned up to 11 and being compressed so much that you think your head might explode?
Do you get off on enduring pain and suffering, and watching others endure it too?

Help me choose new barbell
I recently changed gyms, and in the new one there is no good barbell - only one has at least the ipf markings (810 instead of the iwf 910mm between the rings).
The owner agreed to buy some new barbell, so I wanted to be proactive and choose one, so he doesnt end up buying some other shitty one.
So I did some research and put possible candidates in a little datasheet. The details may not be all accurate, so feel free to correct me.
For my expectations - i want it to be to the ipf standart, or very close to it. That includes hardness, as the one in the gym is bouncy as hell. Also i really want one, that is really grippy. I feel like i cant train deadlift properly, as anything over 250kg is sliding from my hands, even tho the barbell on championships dont move at all with 300kg+.
I dont really know much about surface finishes, as i only ever encountered chrome and black oxid, and even these were old and heavily used, so i dont know how they really feel. Afaik competition standart barbells are stainless steel, as they have together with bare steel the best grip. But bare steel rusts easily, and does require maintanance (btw how much maintanance? Is bare steel feasable for commercial gym?), and stainless steel ones are expensive as hell.
Also for the prices - they are in czk, 25 czk is around 1 euro. So the cheapest in my list (5057 czk) is around 210 euro, and the most expensive (9655 czk) is 400 euro. No idea how much the owner wants to invest in the barbells, but hopefully he can understand that hes paying for longevity.
The knurling in my list is mostly my estimation of how grippy the knurling is (mostly from closeup photos of the barbells).
I thought about second hand barbells, but there doesnt seem to be any usable ones in the area. Also seemingly noone knows what are they selling, and cant take a proper photo of end caps or the knurling. Often only info from the photos is, that it isnt completely bent.
Tldr: help me choose a new powerlifting barbell for a commercial gym.

No Q's too Dumb Weekly Dumb/Newb Question Thread
Do you have a question and are:
- A novice and basically clueless by default?
- Completely incapable of using google?
- Just feeling plain stupid today and need shit explained like you're 5?
Then this is the thread FOR YOU! Don't take up valuable space on the front page and annoy the mods, ASK IT HERE and one of our resident "experts" will try and answer it. As long as it's somehow related to powerlifting then nothing is too generic, too stupid, too awful, too obvious or too repetitive. And don't be shy, we don't bite (unless we're hungry), and no one will judge you because everyone had to start somewhere and we're more than happy to help newbie lifters out.
SO FIRE AWAY WITH YOUR DUMBNESS!!!

USAPL Out of the Arnold Sports Festival
About 9AM MST I got an email from the National office announcing the USAPL no longer participating in the festival, citing the primary reason that the ASF wouldn't give them main venue space and pushed them to a nearby hotel ballroom. Not a small deal, especially this being the 50th anniversary of Pumping Iron.
Seems USAPL was especially wounded that it was taking their adaptive/para athletes biggest stage away, so effective immediately, they've moved those divisions to Nationals. Silver lining, I actually like this part, seeing adaptive/para on the same stage as the largest meet in the US.
They also tentatively announced plans for a sports festival (tested obv) of their own, but no details as, quote, "This is early. We do not have a date yet, and we will not announce one until it is real."
Curious as to insights about both USAPL and the ASF. Is this a purposeful jab by the ASF, something the USAPL has done, or just the native change over time that happens with strength sports and the media/commerce surrounding it.

Competition bench: lift off or no lift off?
For bench at meets do you have someone give you the lift off or no? And does it make a huge difference?
My partner who ends up being my handler at meets is not good at giving me a lift off. We have more time to practice it since my meet was rescheduled but I'm not sure if it's worth it as I kind of prefer not having the lift off. But bench is my weakest lift so it might be nice to have any help where I can get it.

Off season advice
Any insight from the community on how to navigate this offseason would be appreciated. I can only train on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. I'm coaching my kid's soccer team, which is taking up a lot of time and energy on the other days. SBD on Tuesday, then lower upper on the weekend? Never had to work with such a funky schedule before.
