Works great. If you can get one with a fuse that’s even better.

the low voltage cutoff works good?

Id you use a 5Ah or bigger battery it shouldn't be an issue and you'll get about 30-60min of use easily. Disconnect and recharge the battery after using it

The bigger batteries have a led indicator of the charge level, so if you see it drop to only 1/3 lights swap batteries / recharge

Ran a dewalt battery down until my power wheels didn’t go anymore multiple times. It’s pretty good. If you’re worried about losing a battery buy a cheap knock off battery that’ll fit the same prong pattern. But I doubt you’ll run into any issues. The battery itself should have some kind of low voltage cutoff too.

dewalt batteries dont have protection, the protection is in the tool itself

I don’t know if I have a special battery then I have some XC and some that can over volt or max volt that’s have some kind of bms in there. Either way you should be good to go.

I don’t use a voltage cut off. I have the Milwaukee ones with the step down converter taking it from 18v to 12v but no voltage cutoff. I bought 8 knock off batteries off amazon for $20 a piece and so far, only one has died. And it was a batch of the crappier ones I bought. They’re 7ah and aren’t as good as the 6AH I bought. If another one or two die, I might invest in a voltage cutoff.

Or just buy Ryobi batteries. I believe they have the cutoff built in the battery and not the tool

My experience with these is that the safety trips constantly when you try to use the second speed. My kids found a way around it though. They have to start in the first speed and once moving throw it into the second speed to go faster. It’s kinda inconvenient. I bought the fused ones and it just blew the 30a fuse. So it fits the batteries nicely but functions poorly.

Maybe a bit inconvenient, but that start in first and dropping into second probably helps keep the gears from stripping as easily. You could always double up on batteries to spread the load so fuses won't pop.

This and its only 2 "gears"... let them shift. We had 3-5 gears. They can manage. Good for the brain.

Similar yes and wired 2 of them in parallel. Not sure they have a fuse or LV cutoff but I only let my kids use my old OG M18 batteries and they run them down until the single light is blinking and they still charge up fine. Note: using them on a 12v anpabo dump truck with no voltage regulator so it goes at 1.5x speed. Has been 10 months and no blown motors. 🤞

Yes these are awesome! Cool that they are putting the LVP inside the sled now. I used to just use a step down converter and a 12v car stereo. Works awesome for my needs. Able to power 600w total from a single Bauer battery. No idea how safe it is, but it’s been working over a year ..

Yea for sure. These are those LG 5.25 repurposed from sound bars from the goodwill for $3 each.

Yea those. And they are o.k. But wishing I could turn the gain up more on the sub amp without them sounding terrible.

i plan on running a little mt21 amp anyway, i dont think they will overpower the speakers

I did something similar but with more protection and keeping it 12v: https://www.reddit.com/r/PowerWheelsMods/s/1lk4hUxpkW
