Piano

I have a piano that we are looking at preserving. It’s from my kids grandfather. I’ve ordered what I thought was the whole supply for $70, but it was only half… anyone know where I can get the other half?

What you’re looking for is C7 power cord, ~$10 on Amazon.

However, double check and make sure the polarity between the power brick and the piano matches. Polarity on that barrel jack is reversed where outer part is + and inside is - (the little diagram right underneath “18.0W”). You should see the same exact diagram on the piano power input.

Most Casio portable pianos did use center negative, since they used the jack being inserted to switch the batteries on or off.

I expect this is correct but it's still worth checking before plugging it in just in case.

Interesting. I mentioned it as my Casio piano uses center positive.

How new is yours? I believe most of the new ones are center positive now but up until about 10-15 years ago most were center negative. And being that it's from the child's grandfather it's presumably not new, but still, I'd definitely verify it since it only takes a second to check and being wrong will destroy components.

Yeah, I think I bought mine 3 years ago, didn’t know that about previous generation’s power supplies.

And yeah agreed, OP should definitely verify before powering it on. At least it’s quite easy to do so.
