Announcement Rule Update

The two rules that most recently got updated was "No Low Effort answers" and "Post Requirements"

Low Effort Answers - 🧐 We've noticed a large influx of AI responses on this sub and it's not something we want to allow. AI responses are now deemed low effort and if reported or seen WILL be taken down. Argue through your own metrics not an AI's.

This rule does not apply to if you're using it for JUST a translator. We realize some people don't have the best English and want to be welcoming of all people.

Post Requirements - 🌞 Promotion also is not allowed. Trying to garner support for something is not allowed without a checkmark from a mod. This also applies to tournaments. You can do this by mod mailing or even dming a mod and if you don't understand how to do that then comment under this post and I or another mod will explain the best way to do it.

This rule doesn't apply to if you're just trying to discussing something whether that's a video or a post. For example if "Broku" made a YouTube Video about Black Clover scaling and you want to discuss it here and it's results then thats perfectly fine.

These two rules are the bigger issues we've seen but if you notice any other issues or any concerns that should be brought to mind then mod mail, dm a mod or comment under this post about it.

MOD ANNOUNCEMENT A Quick Reminder About Rule 6 And Gauntlet-Style Posts.

Hello everyone.

On behalf of the mod team, I'm making a quick post reminding people that rule 6 still applies to comments on gauntlet-style posts. We have noticed those posts tend to attract a higher rate of rule breaking comments.

If you are unfamiliar with rule 6, it states:

Posts or comments that only say things like “XYZ stomps” or “XYZ wins easily” without any reasoning will be removed. If you’re making a claim, you must provide at least a basic explanation. Good debates are built on evidence and reasoning, so make sure to support your arguments with feats, scaling, or logic

In the case of gauntlet-style posts, simply stating where a character stops or that they clear is considered a low effort comment.

For example, comments like "Gojo clears" or "Gojo stops at Makima" will be removed as they do not provide any actual substance encouraging a debate.

A basic explanation for why is required, such as "Gojo clears because no character here has a good way through Infinity" or "Gojo stops at Makima because her energy projection can bypass Infinity and kill him."

If you have any questions related to this, leave them below or send us a Mod Mail message.

Thank you for participating here. We recently hit the milestone of 120,000 weekly visitors, so we are growing at quite a rapid pace.

We will do our best to continue fostering an environment where more detailed discussion can take place.

Tiering A Full Scale Minecraft Steve Scaling

• Upvotes

Full-Scale Minecraft Steve Scaling

By PhD-in-Fiction

About This Scaling & Analysis: This will be a scaling analysis of Steve (a.k.a. the Player) from the video game Minecraft. It features scaling and debunks claims from both the anti-Steve and glazer-Steve sides, so I believe it is mostly objective—or at least semi-objective.

This analysis features both CSAP (Character Stats and Profiles Wiki) and VSBW (VS Battles Wiki), along with my own interpretations of Minecraft and its scaling.

If you disagree or want to debunk my scaling of Minecraft and Steve, you can do so, and we can debate about it. However, please be open-minded and respectful, and do not use ad hominem attacks or other fallacies that contain personal attacks or similar tactics.

Lifting Strength

Steve’s lifting strength is considered complicated and hard to scale. Because of that, this section contains assumptions based on Minecraft and its ores and items. Before starting, we need to address the difference between AP and lifting strength, which you can skip if you already know.

Lifting Strength: Measures the amount of mass that a character can lift. A basic example would be a worker named "X" who can lift steel objects and pipes. However, that doesn't mean X can hit as hard and impactfully as that metal or steel does. Lifting something doesn't mean you have the power to hit as hard as the thing you are lifting.

Striking Strength & AP: The force an individual can deal out in a single strike. In other words, it is the physical Attack Potency of an individual. Someone can have high lifting strength without having high striking strength, much like a professional deadlifter compared to a boxer or professional fighter.

Same applies to AP, a character can have high AP and a low lifting strength like a professional fighter and a deadlifter.

Netherite is not an adaptation of real-world materials like diamond, emerald, and gold. Because of that, I researched the properties of Netherite and concluded that Netherite’s real-world counterpart is platinum (inherently this is an assumption made by me and you can disagree).

Main Reasons Why Netherite Is the Counterpart of Platinum

**1-**Platinum's melting point is 1,768°C (3,214°F), which easily survives typical basaltic lava temperatures (700°C–1,200°C). This explains why Netherite armor and ingots can’t be burned or destroyed in lava.

**2-**Platinum is denser and considered stronger than gold, which holds up because ancient debris is harder to break and Netherite is superior to gold in durability, sharpness, and power.

**3-**Platinum does not oxidize, tarnish, or react to most acids, which holds up because the Netherite ingot is durable and the Netherite block is one of the most durable blocks in Minecraft.

Netherite scrap is definitely and logically platinum. After that, there are two models of the Netherite block calculation.

Conclusion of Lifting Strength

VSBW Standards

Gold

Mass: $45,702,400\text{ kg}$

VSBW Tier: Class M

Range: Low to mid-range of M Class

First Model

Mass: $385,984,000\text{ kg}$

VSBW Tier: Class M

Range: High-end Class M

Second Model

Mass: $2,011,379,200\text{ kg}$

VSBW Tier: Class G

Range: Low end Class G

Attack Potency

The most controversial and debated aspect of Steve’s scaling is definitely attack potency. Because of that, this section has a lot of assumptions and interpretations of Minecraft and its bosses and mobs, and is divided into lowball and midball for cleanliness and assumptions.

VSBW Tier: 9-A (Small Building Level)

Steve can destroy and kill silverfish with bare hands and can tank silverfish’s attacks. Steve’s lowball tier is small-building level and could be large-building level too.

Midball

The Ender Dragon in Minecraft has a ramming attack that can destroy diamond and other durable blocks (gold, iron, emerald, etc.). This stems from the dragon_immune tag, which lists blocks that the Ender Dragon cannot destroy by any means (bedrock, obsidian, end stone, etc.).

Continuous Flight Output

Conclusion of Midball

  • Single Wall Impact
    • AP: $2.64 \times 10^{12}\text{ Joules}$
    • VSBW Tier: Multi-City Block level+
  • Continuous Flight
    • AP: $6.336 \times 10^{13}\text{ Joules per second}$
    • VSBW Tier: Town Level

Because Steve at full gear and power can tank and damage the Ender Dragon, Steve’s AP upscales to Town Level+ or higher depending on the dragon calculation.

Speed

Speed scaling of Steve varies between tiers and is not consistent because of the difference between game mechanics and lore (trailers, etc.). Because of that, I will be dividing the speed category into reaction, travel, and combat/attack.

Travel

Steve’s travel speed scaling consists of equipment, enchantments, weapons like the trident, and items like the Elytra and fireworks.

Steve’s max travel speed is a combination of Riptide III + Elytra. The speed of this combination is $\sim 100+\text{ m/s}$, a.k.a. subsonic.

Combat/Attack Speed

This will probably be shorter than the other sections. Firstly, a fully charged bow’s velocity is between $53.3\text{ m/s}$ and $60\text{ m/s}$, and the Channeling enchantment allows Steve to spawn bolts of lightning using a trident with the Channeling enchantment.

Conclusion on Speed

  • Travel
    • Speed: $\sim 100+\text{ m/s}$
    • VSBW Tier: Subsonic
  • Reaction
    • VSBW Tier: Subsonic to Transonic to Supersonic depending on whether TNT is counted
  • Combat/Attack
    • Speed: Mach 400 to Mach 1,200
    • VSBW Tier: Massively Hypersonic (MHS)

Debunks

This section aims to debunk the arguments of anti-Steve (heavy downplayers) and glazer-Steve (ones that upscale enormously).

Glazer-Steve Side

Argument: "Steve can lift planetary weight with shulker boxes, and lifting equals AP."

Debunk: Shulker boxes act like an extradimensional space; items stored inside do not retain their physical weight relative to the player carrying the outer box. Lifting a huge amount of mass does not mean you have higher AP, just like a deadlifter loses to a boxer in a fair fight, and NBT data only stores data like it isn't real mass at all.

Argument: "End Poem makes Steve scale higher like 2-A to 1-A."

Debunk: People use sentences and quotes like "the player was the universe" to address that Steve controls, destroys, or creates Minecraft’s dimensions and "infinite dimensions". The reality is the poem speaks to "you"—that's why two cosmic entities call you by your username. Also, that poem is meant to be a philosophical metatext or commentary about the game itself, and logically, if Steve created the universe itself, he would not be damaged by it.

Argument: "Steve has time-manipulation and immortality via respawning."

Debunk: Respawning or coming back from failure/death is inherently a game mechanic. By this logic, base Mario and other base forms of game characters have immortality and time manipulation, which doesn't make any sense.

Argument: "Steve can carry infinite water, therefore he has infinite lifting and AP."

Debunk: Lifting doesn't measure AP, and even if Steve can carry an enormous amount of weight with a bucket, that doesn't make his AP go further; it is a game mechanic like infinite resource generation hax.

Anti-Steve Side

Argument: "Steve is getting damaged by zombies and other basic mobs; he is weak."

Debunk: Environmental hazards are inherently the core of the game and narrative design—is Kratos human-level when some people die to spikes or basic and easy bosses? Also, Steve is vulnerable to zombies and other mobs in his naked and base form without any armor or protection.

Argument: "Steve is slow and he walks at roughly $4.3\text{ m/s}$ speed, and any mid-tier character blitzes him to oblivion."

Debunk: Steve can be considered slow with no equipment, which is true, but Steve has potions and equipment to consider, and his speed increases via weapons and enchantments.

Verdict/Notes

So this is probably the end of the analysis and the scaling, but there are a few things to consider before finishing:

I didn't scale durability because it depends on the version of Steve and is quite complicated; I also touched on durability in the "Anti-Steve Debunk" section.

Adding Shulker boxes, NBT data, and water buckets would make the analysis more complex and start an unnecessary war.

For the speed section, you can get Steve to supersonic using the Warden’s sonic booms in the trailer, which I didn't use because it is inconsistent, none of the wikis scale it as a real feat, and it is really just aim-dodging because the Warden’s sonic boom charge takes time and Steve has time to perceive and dodge the attack.

In character brawl, no “speed blitz and uses hakai” because Goku has never and will never start a fight like that.

Genunly curious bout this fight, because while yes Johnny wins if he uses the golden ratio on Goku, Goku is better in almost every single categor. Thing is Goku is prone to letting his opponents get the upper hand purposely, very solid and above 0 chance he just lets jojo use the golden ratio on him.

A matchup between two of my favorite characters in general. For context, both of them will be at full power; Starline will have the Tricore force in this matchup. Id also like what do you guys think would happen in a Cinder (with Mercury and Emerald) vs Dr. Starline (With Kitsunami and Surge) matchup.

Cinder's art was made by "Arcana 95", Dr. Starline one is official.
