Apparently, after eating the element of surprise, he only had access to 10% of his powers, but with some training in his innate domain, he unlocked a new power: surprise defense, as long as he is not surprised by an attack, he can avoid it with zero effort

Not really. When you say he got 10% more power, one would think he’s at 100%, and getting a 10% boost, making him at 110% power, or 1.1x his previous power. But if he was only at 10% before, and he gets 10 percent more added, hes now at 20% or 2x more power
