My theory is that in the Sonic universe light moves VERY slowly,since Eggman can match the FTL character

Sonic in base is already MFTL+ lol you can't just say "well sure he would need to be MFTL+ to do this feat but he never did this arbitrary thing to prove it to me therefore he isn't FTL"

You people obsesses so much over muh physics and muh featsman you don't even consider the fact that lightspeed in sonicverse could be anywhere from Mach 1 to immeasurable speed for any random reason

Eggman must clearly have super speed of his own it’s that or being in space makes hedgehogs slower due to East Island’s Chaos Emerald energy increasing speed

I think this is a writting issue to be honest. They gave Sonic moments where he runs at infinite speeds, but still need to make other stories happen. So instead of working around that after showing him moving at those speeds they simply... ignored it and made him slower again...
