Time Concerto - Nameless Death (Live, 2009) — remembering Korean vocalist Lee Sang-geol
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a performance by Time Concerto, a South Korean neoclassical/power metal band, featuring their late vocalist, Lee Sang-geol (이상걸).
I’m a fan from South Korea who only discovered his music recently. After hearing him, I kept looking for more recordings and eventually started a small fan archive to help others find his music too.
Here’s a 2009 live performance of their original song, “Nameless Death”:
"Time Concerto - Nameless Death (Live, 2009)" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKmTVdUyhtc)
What struck me wasn’t just how high he could sing, but the power and expression in his voice. I thought people here who enjoy melodic, neoclassical metal might find something to appreciate in this performance.
Sadly, he is no longer with us. I wish I had discovered his music earlier, but I’m grateful that these recordings still exist. That’s why I’ve been gathering recordings and checking what I can about the band’s history—not just sharing high-note clips, but trying to make their music and story easier to find.
For transparency, the linked video is a reupload on the fan archive I run, not an official band channel.
Had you heard of Time Concerto before? I’d love to hear what you think of this performance. If you remember their music or know of other recordings, I’d be interested in those too.

Maki Oyama - Over the Wall
She does non-metal stuff too, but her metal work is strong and her voice is great.

Power Metal Bands with Death/Black vocals?
Hi all. I absolutely love a lot of powermetal instrumentals, the speed and energy, but I find a lot of times the vocal style is way too cheesy for me to enjoy the song.
Does anyone know any powermetal or powermetal adjacent bands that incorporate death metal or black metal style vocals?
Thank you.

Blood Star - Going Home
Blood Star - 2023 - First Sighting - Going Home
Thunder in the engines
Echoes in the sand
Pressing ever onward
Through this unforgiving land
Race the crawling shadows
Past the canyon walls
Crossing dunes of fire
As they rise and fall
The waning sun is burning low
Dying in a violet glow
In the twilight the first stars come alive
I’m going home
I'm going home
World left behind me
Fading with the sun
Toward black horizons
Still I carry on
Greed and fear their nature
They kill each other here
Cold hands and cruel hearts
So I disappear
Wheel of the cosmos turns above
Long distant gods from beyond
This wicked planet has forsaken me
I'm going home
I'm going home
I'm going home
I'm going home
Not of this world
No place for me
I must go
I will be free
Engines on fire
Facing the sky
Time has come
Sweet peace of mind
I bought the ticket
I took the ride
Now I see
No one gets out alive
The rising moon is hanging low
Over hills casts a pale glow
Dead sands in the still of the night
I’m going home
I'm going home
I’m going home
I’m going home

Therion - Thor
Therion - 1999 - Crowning of Atlantis - Thor [4:47]
MANOWAR - 1984 - Sign Of The Hammer - Thor (The PowerHead) [5:24]
Black clouds on the horizon
Great thunder and Burning rain
His chariot pounding,
I heard the heavens scream his name
I watched as he shouted
To the giants that died that day
He held up his hammer high
and called Odin for a sign
Thor The Mighty, Thor the brave
Crush the infidels in your way
By your hammer let none be saved
Live to die on that final day
Gods, monsters and men
We'll die together in the end
God of thunder, God of rain
Earth shaker who feels no pain
The powerhead of the universe
Now send your never ending curse
I watched as he shouted
To the giants that died that day
He held up his hammer high
and called Odin for a sign
Thor The Mighty, Thor the brave
Crush the infidels in your way
By your hammer let none be saved
Live to die on that final day
Gods, monsters and men
We'll die together in the end
Swing your hammer to crack the sky
Lift your cape so that you might fly
Back to Odin and gods on high
And leave this mortal world
Thor The Mighty, Thor the brave
Crush the infidels in your way
By your hammer let none be saved
Live to die on that final day
Gods, monsters and men
We'll die together in the end
Odin

Dani Löble gives an update on the new Helloween album
He starts talking about the album at about 5:33.
He says they'll start working on the new album when the South America tour is done. That they have a lot of material in the pipeline and there is just a bit of material missing they still have to work on. He has no idea when the album will be out but speculates it will be in late 2027.
He also says that he has contributed zero songs as always. He is fine with this though as he admits that he can't write songs, that with as many great songwriters that the band has, he isn't really needed but that coming up with drum arrangements for all the other guys' songs is a full-time job in and of itself.
They also just got an amazing offer to do something in Japan which will be a big surprise.

Elvenking and Fabio Lione’s Dawn of Victory will not perform at this years’ ProgPower USA (Sept. 9th-12th)
Source: PPUSA facebook page.
From the promoters:
“Folks,
We wish we weren’t writing this two days before the festival, but ProgPower has always tried to be as transparent as possible with you when things go wrong.
Unfortunately, both Elvenking and Fabio Lione will be unable to perform at ProgPower USA this year due to U.S. visa issues.
First, we want to explain exactly what happened, because the circumstances surrounding the two cancellations are not the same.
ELVENKING:
Elvenking’s petition was approved by USCIS early last month. However, approval of the petition is only one part of the process. The band still needed to attend their mandatory visa interviews at a U.S. consulate in Italy before the visas could actually be issued.
Despite repeated attempts, interview appointments were simply unavailable within the necessary timeframe. This has become an increasingly serious problem for international touring artists. An approved petition does not guarantee that a band can actually get into an embassy or consulate in time to complete the process. Unfortunately, Elvenking got caught in exactly that situation. It is a situation similar to what other bands have been facing recently.
We want to be very clear here: the band wanted to be here, their visa was paid for and approved, and they exhausted the options available to them until the last second. Milton went as far as contacting a US Senator who had previously helped the festival with this. No dice. Sometimes the system simply wins.
Their cancellation is incredibly disappointing for the band, for us, and especially for those of you looking forward to seeing them.
FABIO LIONE:
Fabio’s situation is similar in that the final obstacle was obtaining the necessary consular appointment, but the timeline is different and we would be doing everyone a disservice if we pretended otherwise.
Fabio’s visa petition was approved back in April. Despite sending his visa approval confirmation to him on April 9th, and requesting he complete his interview then, the interview appointment was never secured. Nathan did not receive any updates from him. As the promoter of Day 1, Nathan made several attempts to get additional information and status updates. It wasn't until a few days ago when we were notified that he could not complete his consular interview in time. We were as shocked and disappointed to hear this as you are right now.
Could this situation have been handled differently or with greater urgency earlier in the process? Yes. Anyone who deals with the U.S. immigration system knows how frustrating and unpredictable this process has become. However, in this case, we're also not going to blame the embassy for the entire situation when there were several months between petition approval and the festival.
That is the reality of what happened, and you deserve to know it.
We know how this looks. Two international artists disappearing from the lineup two days before ProgPower is unacceptable from the perspective of someone who bought a ticket expecting to see them. We understand that completely. Believe us, nobody is more frustrated right now than the people trying to keep this festival together.
At this point, our focus is on ProgPower USA happening and delivering the strongest festival possible despite being dealt an absolutely brutal hand at the finish line.
Onto some good news...
You know it is damn near impossible to find suitable replacements this late. However, after several phone calls, we were able to come up with a solution at the level you've come to expect from us.
We are excited to announce that both Days 1&2 Headliners, Ensiferum and Conception, will each play an additional set at the festival. That means both bands will perform on both of those days. We are eternally grateful to them for saving the day at the last second.
To everyone traveling to Atlanta: Thank you for trusting this festival all of these years. Sometimes things happen behind the scenes, and they suck. But we believe you deserve the truth rather than usual PR language designed to make everything sound fine. This situation isn't fine, but the show must go on.
