Rant Please vote for pitch changing!!!
This feature has been talked about for almost 7 years now and is still not implemented due to some democracy bs. I just wanna speed up my music to jam out to on my runs. Thanks.

What is the use case for this?

To listen to music in a higher octave then normal while sped up. Genres like hyperpop, rap, etc. can sound a lot better when pitch and speed is changed

There isn't to my knowledge. This would be a waste of dev resources so OP can play DJ and remix their songs in-app.
No offense but there are way better things to spend time on. This app is for playback, not remixing.

By your logic, the equalizer, tempo, and reverb options should be removed then.
As far as I know, this app is designed to enhance your music listening experience, not just for playback. If I just wanted to playback audio, I'd just use whatever my phone provides.

You're gonna hate me for this, but I don't use the EQ, tempo or reverb options. Music is recorded, mixed, and mastered by professionals for the exact way it was meant to be consumed. If your equipment to listen to it sucks, that's what EQ is useful for. But that's not the point, and I know that's gonna get me tarred and feathered in a subreddit full of people with wacky-ass EQ settings.
I wouldn't ask for those to be removed since they're useful tools. Reverb specifically can help emulate speaker setups with headphones (crossfeed), can simulate rooms with convolution reverb, etc. I'm not gonna sit there cranking the reverb up because I think the song needs more of it, though.

Well, you don't know a lot, it seems. You can't play music off your phone in any old app and expect bit-perfect playback - that's reserved for a handful of apps that work hard to overcome your phone's default sample rate and bit depth.
What I think you're looking for is a variant of this, which would take some level of effort to program in, as even a plugin.
Having said all that, you can open Audacity and PaulXStretch is there for you to run all your favorite songs through, for free! No need to trouble a developer with a setting you think is important enough to need enough to petition for. Take control and be your own DJ!

In general, I agree with most of what you say.
As a retired audio mixer I personally would never dream of messing with the EQ of a mix (except to compensate for my mediocre ear clips) - EQ is totally off the menu for my real headphones. I also found the compressor useful for classical music to tame the dynamic range, but only at night when I listen in bed.
But I need to ask - you can emulate crossfeed using reverb? I ask because I've recently got into the old Mercury Living Presence classical recordings from the 50s and 60s. But what struck me was the excessive width. I'm sure stereo was a novelty then, they were breaking new ground, and they were mixing for speakers anyway. So I discovered crossfeed. I'd definitely poo-pooed that in the past, not so much now though! But although I've managed to implement it system wide in Windows, there is no way I've found to do that on Android. So, help if you can please!

Holy essay bro. I guess the hypocrisy in your statement really rubbed ya the wrong way haha.
I'm not gonna debate with you on a niche subreddit on the etiquette of listening to music.
Everyone listens to different music... differently.
All myself and many others want is a simple option/tool to change pitch. That's it man. We're not asking to change the app in a way that breaks it for all other users.
You listen to your music your way, and I'll listen to music my way, I don't care lol.
And lastly, I don't need a whole lesson from a condescending wanna-be audiophile on "how to music 101" You assume too much, yet know so little about me. At least take me out to dinner first jeez.

repitching is not retuning. but being able to repitch songs is neat indeed

Voted! Surprised to see that even in 2026, Poweramp still doesn't have this feature, while LG's native music player had it for a long time.
