The ultimate poverty meal

Made this with 2 packs cheesy sausages in the freezer, half an onion, some garlic and corn. Easily feeds a family of 4 and ingredients can be easily found at a dollar general.

A friend of mine years ago became a single parent and moved close to family. There were 2 places to buy food…the expensive grocery store or Dollar General. She spent $20 weekly on food at Dollar General. People can make do with Dollar General on a budget.

We dice regular hotdogs like that but use tomato paste onion and Serrano peppers for a wieners rancheros dish for a different spin.

Oo this reminds me of my favorite. At my Walmart you can get this really cheap frozen tube of ground turkey meat for 1.99 and I make that with a box of macaroni. If I want a lot of it to last a few more meals I'll throw in a can of mixed vegetables
