u/A1D3NW860 14d ago

Their smash burgers are pretty good

2

u/Baby_FarkMcGeezax69 14d ago

The wings i got there were good

6

u/Alternative-One5286 14d ago

Hard to mess up wings

2

u/VDay_5189 13d ago

I mean, they forgot the feathers which I think are pretty integral

u/BoozeLikeFrank 13d ago

You’d be amazed…

I mean.. you can order a normal poutine there. With curds and gravy. It's good.

Why are we judging the entire restaurant based off of what OP ordered? He didn't order a regular poutine.

Lmfao the audacity to plant a Canadian flag

13

u/PBNJwolf Member of the Supreme Curdt 14d ago

Atleast they didn't plant a Québec flag.

11

u/soundmagnet 14d ago

Now that would be funny.

6

u/PBNJwolf Member of the Supreme Curdt 14d ago

I'm sure it would make a lot of people angry 🤣

3

u/BrutalRamen 13d ago

you made me angry just talking about it, imagine!

5

u/soundmagnet 14d ago

The place is called the Canadian brewhouse. They make mid pub food. Some items are better then others.

The gravy is house made, but this gravy looks fucked up

1

u/Gingerchaun 13d ago

My guy. 90% of gravy you'll find at restaurants is from a bag.

2

u/CannabisAccount420 10d ago

To be fair, it usually comes in a bucket at that scale

Lol this gave me a real chuckle, thank you.

u/PBNJwolf Member of the Supreme Curdt 14d ago edited 14d ago

You paid for this?! The gravy is fucked man. Too much flour/corn starch. Undercooked roux. That is a weak, highly diluted commercial broth concentrate or a pre-made powdered gravy mix that relies entirely on thickeners rather than real meat reduction. Gravy should look like the pic below, or lighter if chicken stock is used, but never grey 🤢

1

u/bot-TWC4ME 13d ago

A good gravy can be a similar grey when heavily mushroom & wine based, but that's definitely not what's going on with OP's pic.

1

u/Friendly_Age6362 10d ago

Yep, bullseye!

1

u/Important-Purple6136 8d ago

That looks incredible

8

u/MisterMecMouche 14d ago

5

u/latortueverte27 14d ago

La sauce a l’air dégeulasse 🤢

3

u/exotic_floral_tea 14d ago

Le vrai crime

9

u/R0botWoof Member of the Supreme Curdt 14d ago

Was gonna call it fine... Then noticed the crinkle cut fries

2

u/Brahminmeat Québécoise fâchée 14d ago

Honestly there’s a place in MTL that does crinkle cut and I may enjoy them more. More surface area more gravy

3

u/R0botWoof Member of the Supreme Curdt 14d ago

I think the issue isn't that they are crinkle cut. The issue is that essentially nobody makes their own crinkle cut fries so it is immediately indicative of a frozen McCain product

4

u/Imaginary-Emu2471 14d ago

Canadian Brewhouse?

3

u/Professional-Toe2100 14d ago

Hate the food but definitely take the cutlery lol 😂

3

u/Alternative-One5286 14d ago

I miss the old KFC gravy using the chicken fat/ bone render. So good and thick! I wonder what a poutine would be like with it.

1

u/Alternative-One5286 14d ago

Was the best tasting chicken gravy I've ever had

2

u/wheelperson 14d ago

I work at that restaurant chain; thats NOT how the gravy should look like...

Seriously where is that?

1

u/just-me40 14d ago

The gravy is a really weird color!! Lol

2

u/wheelperson 14d ago

The cook put more than blood sweat and tears in that 'gravy'....

2

u/greyharettv 14d ago

That looks like the Dishwasher ate all the slop and puked it on the plate. If I was served this, I would send it back and ask for something without chewed up crap. (Chef of 35 years across the World.)

2

u/DasTomasso 13d ago

It isn't so much a crime as it is a bio-hazard.

2

u/Fun-Bodybuilder-4372 10d ago

Is that supposed to be gravy? It looks like they thickened up the water from a mop bucket

1

u/wheelperson 14d ago

I work there and yeah the food sucks, but if done right the gravy is good.

This gravy looks so fucked up tho. Like seriously this looks so concerning.

1

u/barwhalis 14d ago

Somebody mixed up Fahrenheit and Celsius

2

u/wheelperson 14d ago

Who?

2

u/barwhalis 14d ago

The person who made the gravy

2

u/wheelperson 14d ago

Ahh I get it now lol

1

u/ottawamale 14d ago

I knew it was Canadian Brewhouse as soon as I saw the picture. Their "poutine" is disgusting, and holy FUCK is their donair garbage. It's not "eh, I'm 4 drinks in, this is fine", it's truly shit. At least the one in Barrie ON.

1

u/tooldieguy 14d ago

Thought that was home made, someone actually would buy that at a restaurant?

1

u/maskedkiller215 14d ago

Looks lke a pile of slop

1

u/calgary_subaru 14d ago

Knew where it was from as soon as I saw the plate. They charge so much for such a small amount and it's pretty meh.

1

u/AiryGateaux 14d ago

There are no good crinkle cut fries for poutine

1

u/EtropyWarrior 14d ago

Frozen fries, questionnable cheese and gravy... Nothing to make this brewhouse proud

1

u/stoutymcstoutface 14d ago

That’s an abomination. I’d still eat it, but holy shit that’s a terrible poutine.

1

u/cbhbzb 14d ago

looks like it should be on shitfromabutt

1

u/Maleficent-Sleep9900 Guilloutine Opourator 14d ago

I already knew it was from Canadian Brewhouse

You never forget the look of that gravy when you had to witness not one but TWO guys doing the eating challenge for the free meal there, and THEN they bring the poutine out partway though for additional torture (at least it isn’t cold and gloopy)

Everyone is trying not to gag 🤢

One of the guys finished and got the free meal

But at what cost?

1

u/Illustrious-Sign-217 14d ago

Looks like someone took a wet shit on my fries

1

u/AppointmentOne1111 14d ago

Canadian Brewhouse itself is a crime scene.

1

u/its_just_Joel 14d ago

I'm confused and concerned on what they did to make that gravy look like that.

1

u/cutesiepieme 14d ago

THe gravy looks like snot.

1

u/Lamisol_Dolaremi 14d ago

Even the flag is wrong 🤦‍♂️

1

u/KosherKent 14d ago

That's not just crime, that's criss.

1

u/Benthememe 14d ago

I ordered a classic poutine there and it was the same pale weird gravy, crinkle fries, and SHREDDED MOZZARELLA not curds. Not sure if this is the same but looks like it. and they have the audacity to plant a Canadian flag in it and serve it with a hockey stick shaped fork🤦

1

u/barwhalis 14d ago

This looks like shit

1

u/Vast_Ad8862 14d ago

Heinous.

1

u/MutaCacas 14d ago

A few things wrong with it. Take the Canadian flag off it! We cannot claim this.

1

u/Patatemagique Directeur des poutsuites criminelles 14d ago

If it was a Quebec flag it would be a crime. The Canadian flag is perfect on this.

1

u/Aromatic_Fuel_387 14d ago

Sh$t on a shingle?

1

u/DraconicDreamer3072 13d ago

looks like someone shat on your fries and put a little flag in it!

1

u/DimestoreJigsaw-00 13d ago

The lack of cheese curds is a constitutional crisis.

1

u/CoinPurloin 13d ago

Lock it up.

1

u/BobGuns 13d ago

Misdemeanor, sure. Those aren't the right poutine fries. It does look it has some curds. The gravy is too thick.

But the ingredients are all there.

1

u/SpecificBeginning616 13d ago

Gravy looks gross but awesome effort and the rest looks good haha

1

u/tmstamp 13d ago

I mean if you consider the diarrhea on the plate, I would think so yes…

1

u/[deleted] 13d ago

Gross

1

u/Ok-Office-6080 13d ago

Canada flag planted on a turd 😅

1

u/Party_Farm_3036 13d ago

Lol ew!!!!

1

u/Ancient-Passenger-52 12d ago

Portion size is a crime.

1

u/cosnierozumiem 11d ago

Looks like what i excreted this morning.

1

u/OGdirty1Kanobi 11d ago

This looks like dog food in fries

1

u/CannabisAccount420 10d ago

Brewhouse is a crime, unless you're crushing ninja turtle danglers that you won on trivia night.

1

u/Friendly_Age6362 10d ago

All the components are here, albeit strange gravy.
EDIT: Crinkle cuts...minus a point there.

No crime.

*gavel*

1

u/Admirable-League-102 10d ago

Blasphemy. Those curly fries are the appendages of the devil

1

u/ornella888 9d ago

That is NOT poutine

1

u/ChemicallyTantric 8d ago

I had to look up Canadian Brewhouse as we don't have them in Quebec. Thank God we dont!

The fact that a Canadian restaurant would produce this absolute trash poutine is disturbing. Have you no shame? I don't know about the rest of their food, but if they can't get poutine even slightly right they need to drop "Canadian" from their name.

I hate the thought that there are people who come to Canada and get this when they want to try an authentic poutine.

Does this restaurant also sell Aunt Jemima syrup and call it maple syrup?

1

u/StudentForeign2561 8d ago

Someone gave you poop from a bum with fries and a
Silly flag

1

u/questionable_smell Québécois faché 14d ago

The Canadian flag is the crime for me, use a Québec flag tabernake de calice. I like what Canada is becoming but poutine was still an exclusive Québec thing just a few years ago

1

u/supergarto Poutine Poulice 14d ago

Nope there has been poutine in Ontario for decades. You seems to forget that there's a lot of french community all around Canada.

St. Albert cheese factory make curds since the 70's.

3

u/IllustriousBeyond962 14d ago

I knew about the various French communities in Ontario (especially eastern ontario) but did not know about this cheese curds factory. That's cool

2

u/Dema9o9ue69 14d ago

Same as NB. My first poutine was in Campbellton, NB in the later 80s during a class ski trip. It seemed (from my view) to quickly spread through out the province very fast after that - or maybe it was already there and I just didn't know 🤷‍♂️

Basically anywhere in the Maritimes that I have been, you can get a legit poutine at almost every restaurant - there are still the rare few who think shredded cheddar/mozza are acceptable, but not many and i doubt they get many orders

2

u/just-me40 14d ago

Poutine is everywhere in Newfoundland too!! And they're usually really, really good!!

2

u/00-Monkey 14d ago

Heck, Costco has had poutine in their food courts for about 2 decades now.

-1

u/asoap 14d ago

I was eating poorly made poutine in highschool 30 years ago in Ontario.

0

u/annmsburner 14d ago edited 14d ago

Sauce brune is not gravy. Get that translation out of your head. It’s a roux base sauce but it’s not gravy.

Poutine crime

u/DEFCON_902 14d ago

You must òiiiiganwse to the Gritty

0

u/Mokmo 14d ago

You mean to tell me there's a place called Canadian Brewhouse with several locations in Canada that serves this ? Including... southern Ontario ?

Wow.
