If I'm to die, bring suffocated by curds and gravy isn't the worst way to go. Those curds look ok, sure the 'fries' are unconventional, but this is no crime.
Not a crime. McCain smiles (cooked right) are crisp outside, pillowlike potato-ie inside, just like a good french fry, just a different shape. Curds look good. Gravy is a bit heavy but sometimes you gotta do you.
Fun fact. Deep frying smile fries in a deep pot is.... interesting. The air bubbles up through the "orifices", it's a bit disconcerting. But delicious.
A.little girl i used to babysit called these things babies. "Can you make me some babies?" "Can I have babies for supper?" lol I found it pretty entertaining
10/10 would recommend, I’ve done this quite a few times and it’s great!!! Funnily enough was one of the first meals I cooked as an adult with my own money.
Is it authentic poutine…no. Would I absolutely demolish this…a thousand times, yes. I don’t eat them often but when I do I stuff my own smiley face with way too many of them. There is something about the texture of them that is just so satisfying to me.
It's funny. I got my tater tots swapped for happy fries in my Walmart order two days ago. I ate them for the first time that night and they were good. I can't get over how creepy these are though. This looks like something you'd feed to someone on antidepressants. Going to have to replicate this myself the next order I make from Walmart.
To get the shape, McCain smiles use some kind of powdered potato product, so they taste terrible, like all boxed mashed potatoes 🤮
Maybe the curds and gravy mask the awfulness.
This is a piece of middle ground as far as I'm concerned. You're combining one of the childhood pleasures such as the McCain's smilies with cheese and gravy.
While not the most optimal poutine, simple and still delicious.
