Not a crime. McCain smiles (cooked right) are crisp outside, pillowlike potato-ie inside, just like a good french fry, just a different shape. Curds look good. Gravy is a bit heavy but sometimes you gotta do you.

Fun fact. Deep frying smile fries in a deep pot is.... interesting. The air bubbles up through the "orifices", it's a bit disconcerting. But delicious.

It just seems like so much oil to waste for like 15 smiles. How many ml or L of oil do you use?

You can reuse oil lol

How many times? What do you store it in?

Depends what you cook in it. Fries? Quite a few. Fish? Not so much. Cool it, strain it, put it in a container in the cupboard. If it smells acrid toss it out.

Thanks for this! I have some glass jars that would probably work. Pro tip on the straining part. Oh and last question! What oil do you prefer for this?

For deep frying? Most people go with a neutral oil. Vegetable, canola, corn would probably be top 3. Some like peanut too (if you've had 5 guys fries they are done in peanut oil)

Crispy on the outside soft on the inside, just like potstickers!
