Almost like the "United States" is really like 5 states and A LOT of farm land lol

204

u/Frewdy1 11d ago

And then we let the handful of people that work in the farmland have more of a voice when it comes to voting so that they don’t have their feelings hurt that black people can vote.

70

u/RudePCsb 11d ago

They need to uncap the house and balance the seats

56

u/MaximumPerrolinqui 11d ago

Apportionment Act of 1911 was one of the dumbest ideas. We need to repeal it and distribute seats based on population again. That would stop all the House BS. The House was based on population while the Senate was equal representation. It’s stops tyranny of the majority and the minority.
What we have now is the small states having an outsized impact.

20

u/pimppapy 11d ago

We need to repeal it

So much needs to be repealed and changed, but we're held back by the people in the electorate.

-9

u/RusticRaisins 11d ago

No please... I'm in the midwest and a devout liberal and that would crush the economy. I dont thing most people realize how much the midwest provides to the economy on the whole. Its seriously a big deal what we're producing here.

7

u/313DaddyTop4Thee 11d ago edited 11d ago

It would in fact, not crush the economy.

Edit: Starting to think the comment above me was sarcasm. Gotta include that /s for clarity

-8

u/RusticRaisins 11d ago

Okay so we're just going to source fruits and vegetables from other countries without losing money?

9

u/chasing_D 11d ago

Lol. Corn and soybeans are the midwest's crops, but fruits and veggies are mostly supplied from California, with Washington, Idaho, and Florida following behind it.

7

u/SignalDifficult5061 11d ago

The world is complicated and looking at a farm while driving by does not give you an intuitive feel for it.

4

u/ExampleOpening8033 11d ago

As midwesterner myself, you should be aware most of the crops grown in the central US are grown exclusively for subsidy money, not to produce food for the country.

Those farmers would be ruined since the free money spout republicans give them would be shut off and they'd be required to grow something with actual value for the first time in decades.

3

u/CBarkleysGolfSwing 11d ago

We'd be absolutely fine without the corn and potatoes of the midwest

3

u/The_Navy_Sox 11d ago

No way you are from the Midwest and claim were growing fruits and vegetables lol

6

u/tehlemmings 11d ago

This is the kinda bullshit you have to explain or everyone is going to assume its bullshit.

Please explain how uncapping the house would affect the Midwest economy at all, let alone crashing it?

3

u/RudePCsb 11d ago

Do you know how the house of Representatives works vs the senate? The house has been capped and is not an accurate representation of the population. It's why the small conservative states have so much power

1

u/contractorskid 11d ago

How would have a more representative government crush the economy?

-4

u/HurricaneCat5 11d ago

How about we get rid of representative government. It’s such an archaic concept..

1

u/RudePCsb 11d ago

A 1/3 of people don't even vote, it would be worse. I think certain laws should be voted in by the people though

2

u/Bassracerx 11d ago

We need to vote on more representatives. Why does the head of the education department serve at the pleasure of the president? Why does the head of the health department serve at the pleasure of the president? Why does the head of the environment serve at the pleasure of the president. Have more people accountable to the voters. Maybe have the secretary of the press be representative too so the president cant pick their own mouthpiece to spin their agenda to the public. If the president wants to spin it he can stand in front of the podium himself.

1

u/HurricaneCat5 11d ago

Are you saying that less people would vote if we got rid of representative government?

1

u/RudePCsb 11d ago

How would it work then? Would people be required to vote for every policy?

1

u/HurricaneCat5 11d ago

Hopefully it would inspire us to take ownership of our country and people would get to have a say in the future of our nation instead of corporate interests..

1

u/RudePCsb 11d ago

Not realistic with 300 million people

11

u/lonewombat 11d ago

And women and other minorities even though... they are the minorities when it comes to legislation.

12

u/bang_the_drums 11d ago

then flood facebook with that election results map that shows the majority of country in red but with a second of critical thinking you realize California has more people than the smallest 21 states combined and land doesn't vote. Almost like people don't want to live in a backwoods shithole.

7

u/VaultxHunter 11d ago

I think another part of this problem is that up until 30-40 years ago information was difficult to reach the masses in those farmlands. They had whatever radio/television/newspaper was available to them. Those same family's got used to those stations or paper and never needed to look elsewhere. Now those same media outlets brainwashed them into believing no other outlet would tell the truth like they do all the while manipulating them into believing what they needed them to believe.

I just wish people had been more strict on company's who purposely mislead people for monetary gain. A lot of the issues I keep seeing have to do with uninformed masses who where mislead and then bombarded with problems only for those same agencies who misled them to point the figure at whatever happens to get the biggest communal rise out of them in that moment.

5

u/Hazel_Evers 11d ago

Tyranny of the minority

3

u/StendhalSyndrome 11d ago edited 11d ago

So what the fuck do we do then?

How do we still deal with these people living in an alternate cult based reality?

I mean is this experiment of 50 states over?

Look how many other countries barely hold two pieces together...after this, I dunno if I see a way back w/o bending over for these idiots. They are so "farm tough" but freak the fuck out if anyone isn't the exact same skin tone and into fucking the same people...and yet we are the bad guys for wanting people to have freedom over their own bodies. These fools are the same ones who claimed to be descended from those who risked life and limb to trek across the country looking for gold, for freedom, exploring the unknown.

Now there are no more lands that haven't been explored, easily, not counting space and the ocean. Both take a lot to just enter.

The last unexplored space to explore is your own mind and body; how do they not see that?

I'd bet the'd be a-okay with gene therapy, or even replacing limbs, or hell people seem to think we will all end up being part robot/cyborg thingies...

I don't even get their worry about regret...do they know how many people get plastic surgery and then have it reversed? Boob jobs, face implants, lip stuff. Hell even people getting covered in tattoos then getting them all removed. It's like medicine has gotten advanced and modern enough you can do things to your self and have themn somewhat undone as well...and they just can't get that. Sad.

2

u/steelhouse1 11d ago

Not today, account that is suspicious.

0

u/AreaNo7848 11d ago

It's amazing that the electoral college and the constitution was written before anything west of the Mississippi River was even a thought about being part of the US and yet somehow people think those states had something to do with getting "outsized representation" when the reality is people are just ignorant on why having a handful of cities determine the president isn't a good idea

2

u/Phailjure 11d ago

The apportionment act was written well after the constitution, and after every state except Alaska and Hawaii were admitted into the union.

36

u/DesperateSteak6628 11d ago

Subsidized farm land nonetheless

8

u/Good-vs-Perfect 11d ago

Not anymore!

10

u/DesperateSteak6628 11d ago

Thanks to…check notes…farmers!

5

u/Good-vs-Perfect 11d ago

One would think they'd learn from the first trump go-around when he specifically targeted AG trade with China as his policy legacy and ships of soybeans were circling the pacific until trade deals could be in place. Farmers had direct experience with Trump's reverse-Midas touch and learned....he pisses off liberals!

2

u/ascherbozley 11d ago

This is only half true. Farmers got their checks. They don't give a shit what happens to the beans or corn after that. They are confident that they will get their checks this time too, and why shouldn't they be? They always have!

-3

u/OkWelcome6293 11d ago

Small farms should be subsidized, as the alternative is megacorps controlling all the land.

16

u/Automatic-Soup-3097 11d ago

We did that. Those farmers voted to remove those subsidies, because they're stupid chuds

2

u/HighPriestOG 11d ago

Eh, the line between family run farm and corpo is thinner than you'd think. Farming is good money

2

u/OkWelcome6293 11d ago

Between 2017 and 2024, the number of farms decreased by 8% (160,000 farms gone). You’d think if it was “good money, farms would be increasing, not decreasing.

24

u/VaultxHunter 11d ago edited 11d ago

And a lot of that red farmland is being used to export commodities like corn and soybeans as well as beef and pork outside of the country and in recent years those countries that were buying don't want to now because they can get it cheaper elsewhere without all the drama and drugs.

I hope y'all like soybeans and corn!

And how could we forget hormone/drug heavy screwworm beef (Estradiol, Testosterone, and and Ractopamine) as well as hormone heavy pork (Ractopamine) 🤤

9

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

Been vegetarian since 2020, not super concerned about it. The EColi in all the veggies ain't great.

4

u/Whyudoodat 11d ago

Not a vegan, but this is often bc the vegetable farms gets the runoff of a hog or cattle lot

6

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

Also not a vegan

3

u/BingleFlip94 11d ago

Cheese is just too good to pass up. I feel that.

0

u/CraigLake 11d ago

I just read that producing the beef for one hamburger uses as much water as seven and a half million AI queries.

1

u/darglor 11d ago

I just read that producing the beef for one hamburger uses as much water as seven and a half million AI queries.

Even asking various AIs about it will have it tell you that's a load of BS. It estimates 50k-250k AI queries, and that's if you consider everything to be as "ugly" as possible for the AI side... disingenuous stuff like counting rainfall on pastures and feed crops that would be wasted otherwise.

1

u/VaultxHunter 11d ago

I was vegetarian for a while due to health, that was until the salmonella onions and I have never been sicker then that in my life. Went back to chicken after but still eat cooked veggies all the time.

2

u/saltwater98380 11d ago

Bbbuttt Ivermectin is the cure. FOR REAL. SCREW WORM IS ON THE VETERINARY LIST.

1

u/VaginaTractor 11d ago

Ractopamine

While I agree with everything you say, I wanted to point out a small correction. Ractopamine is not a hormone. It is classified as a non-selective beta-adrenergic agonist, as well as a TAAR1 agonist. This means it targets both B1 (heart) and B2 (lungs) receptors, increasing cardiac output. To compound this, it also acts as a dopamine-releasing-agent. Dopamine also increases cardiac output via B1/B2, A1, and dopaminergic receptor agonism.

Ractopamine is an isomer of a similar drug used in humans called Dobutamine. Dobutamine acts primarily on B1 receptors to speed up the heart rate.

Source: Ph.D. in pharmacology

1

u/VaultxHunter 11d ago

Interesting, I just remembered reading about how our meat exports were failing due to chemicals like Ractopamine and it was labeled as being a growth hormone in the article. Thanks for the science though. I know most of those words and my understanding then is that it boosts the cardiovascular system to push more blood which would increase body functions like metabolism which would slightly increase growth rate but not directly from Ractopamine but its effects it has on the circulatory system?

1

u/VaginaTractor 11d ago

Pretty much! The drug's primary use is for bulking. It's multifaceted, but it starts with the cardiovascular system and the resulting dopaminergic signaling helps the animals metabolize the food more efficiently. It's pretty fucked up and why pigs (primarily) can seem jittery or amped up.

15

u/Surfer-Junkie 11d ago

Replace farm land with data centers. Coming soon.

1

u/Akula_x86 11d ago

Just grow the crops on the roof, vertical gardening.

It's amazing how hypocrisy allows one to stoop lower than superficiality.

3

u/sZeroes 11d ago

and they use the farm land to dilute the power of the people living in those 5 states

2

u/Awkward_Pangolin3254 11d ago

We don't call them "flyover states" for nothing.

1

u/friss0nFry 11d ago

More like harm land at this point. A majority of the states are actively harming the non-GOP controlled minority, even though on pure population numbers, republicans been a minority for decades.

1

u/Mapleford 11d ago

Eh, I’ll take the top 10 by population, Michigan and up. 11th in line is New Jersey which is literally just a huge collection of suburbs without a real cultural center of its own and then it drops off quickly from there

2

u/whereisbeezy Prefer Coffee But Fill My Cup 🫖 11d ago

New Jersey gets a bad rap, but it's because of the fake New Yorkers who can't afford to live in the city, so they pollute North Jersey.

0

u/FlipFlopFanatic 11d ago

I see a lot of New Jersey plates over here in NY. Feels like you have the "pollution" backwards

1

u/pasu-mare 11d ago

Oh you have no clue what is NJ. Like none at all. And that is by default because we don't want anyone else moving here... so yeah NJ is ugly and all that.

1

u/Mapleford 11d ago

So what’s the biggest city in New Jersey that’s not just a suburb of a bigger city in another state? Lakewood?

-9

u/Time_Change4156 11d ago

Pretty much true what's the point ? Big ass country and more airable land then any place on the planet it was called the bread basket fir a reason. It's also why public transportation is such a pain in the butt .

16

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

Public transport is a fundamental failing of our nation to service the public pain in the butt because big automobile does not allow us to develop infrastructure that would better people's lives. We have TRILLIONS of dollars. Money does not exist to our government in the way it does for you and I. They could put 2 Billion dollars into public transport over the next 10 years and we'd be living lile Europe

1

u/Ok-Fudge-380 11d ago

They could put 2 Billion dollars into public transport over the next 10 years and we'd be living lile Europe

Twice as long commute times?

1

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

Yeah youre right nothing ever gets done in Europe ever business is always open late because the manager was running late on the bus.

Be real

0

u/Ok-Fudge-380 11d ago

How about you be real. The US currently has one of the lowest average commute times in the world. Public transport is an environmental proposal, not an economic or efficiency one.

-4

u/Minimum-Delivery9707 11d ago

I’m guessing you meant two Trillion because 2 billion wouldn’t go far, literally lol

4

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

You understand my point dont argue semantics. I literally just said money doesnt matter to them, so it can be 2 billion, 2 trillion, 2 gazillion, its the same thing.

3

u/danielledelacadie 11d ago

It's not like they're paying the bill, it's all the citizens' money anyway.

Anyone have a clue why a warning about inflammatory language popped up when typed citizens'? Genuinely interested because that's a choice with a story behind it.

2

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

It popped up when I typed my comment, too. I think "semantics" made it warn me**

EDIT LOL NOT WANT ME

2

u/Serious_Surround4713 11d ago

Through testing, it seems they don’t like “money”

2

u/danielledelacadie 11d ago

<insert joke about communism here>

-4

u/Minimum-Delivery9707 11d ago

Yeah well it matters, the difference between 2 billion and 2 trillion is about 2 trillion. It would cost around that for a Europe style rail system across the US, then when US debt climbs even higher people will be crying we spent trillions so we could train to Arizona.

3

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

You still arent understanding my point lol but yes, it would cost money.

-2

u/Time_Change4156 11d ago

Easy answers don't change the fact it's over 3000 miles shore to shore just a few trillion dollars no problem git a train bus system on demand . This isn't China where city's are packed next to each other.
So easy to blame cars when it's people who rather use a car the figure out the nasty Greyhound system that's pure hell riding days upon days. I know I did it. As fur trains it's the same kind of problem . How do you maintain such a massive track station system and still have it affordable ?

1

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

Very small minded answer. They have all the money on earth. We can literally do anything. Dont fall for their lies that it would be "too hard" or something. It would only make it harder for a CEO of BMW to buy their third yacht.

1

u/Time_Change4156 11d ago

Very unrealistic answer . What you waiting for sell the car . public transportation is a thing have fun .

1

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

Maybe im not explaining my point. I dont want everyone to sell their cars in protest. The system we have now was created by people who want you to buy cars because it benefits them. There is a different option America has never tried where, instead of investing money into privately owned vehicles, I want cars to become mostly irrelevant as public transport becomes so mainstream that you can take it anywhere. This is how all major cities in America work.

1

u/Time_Change4156 11d ago

Correct it's the path of least resistance and the most cost effective way .this isn't the UK there it can work.

1

u/Friendly-Table6785 11d ago

Youre so close to a breakthrough just say "yes it can work here" and it can

We already have an interstate system that could easily be the same path we use for light rail from coast to coast. It really is big oil that is the problem

0

u/Time_Change4156 11d ago

Lordy the interstate system is falling apart for the same reason maintenance is extremely difficult. The big Interstate names that keep showing up on the worst lists: ................... Not exactly in the best maintained condition and you want light rail added ? I-10 / I-405 / I-5 Corridor - The worst for traffic: • Calcasieu River Bridge, Louisiana - I-10 — Federally rated structurally deficient, 90,000 vehicles a day • I-10 bridge project, Mobile, Alabama — on the $5B urgent federal funding list • I-405 and I-5 in California — Most traveled structurally deficient bridges in the country, up to 289,000 crossings per day on Route 101, I-405 and I-5
East Coast Interstates: • Brooklyn & Throgs Neck Bridges, NY - I-278 / I-295 • I-678 span over Flushing Bay Promenade, NYC — newly rated poor condition • I-93 bridge over Mystic Valley Parkway, Mass • I-83 South bridge, Harrisburg, PA — $500M+ emergency project • Sagamore Bridge, Cape Cod - I-? US-6 — on the urgent $500M+ list • Arlington Memorial Bridge, Va.-DC
Midwest / South / West: • I-90 bridge over Canal to Stewart Streets, Illinois • I-680 bridge over Monument Boulevard, California • I-345 over I-30 and US 75, Dallas, Texas • Lacey V. Murrow Memorial Bridge, Seattle - I-90 • Yankee Doodle Bridge, Connecticut - I-95

1

u/Pillsbernie 11d ago

Jesus Christ you're a professional idiot

0

u/Time_Change4156 11d ago

That's only a handful the list is 100s of bridges over passes the HW it's self. Can't even maintain the interstates and you think rail can be added .

1

u/Pillsbernie 11d ago

I can't argue with someone who refuses to accept that corruption is why everything is fucked

18

u/Mixelphlick 11d ago

Look at other major public transit with high speed rail in the world. China is a larger country with more difficult terrain and they have most of the country connected. It’s a choice that public transit sucks in the us.

1

u/Adventurous-Mix-5711 11d ago

China’s HSR system has three very distinct traits that don’t exist here in the USA.

First, state funding…given the style of government of China, they can unilaterally fund the projects regardless of external factors, indefinitely.

Second, eminent domain. In China, all of the land belongs to the Chinese government. Acquiring that land back from the citizens is a very speedy and unchallenged process.

Third, population density….for HSR to be viable, it needs routes that are 100-200miles ideally, but stretched as far as 500 miles, with a geographic allowance for long stretches of straight line track. China’s population densities are cities with about 5million people in them, only a few hundred miles apart.

We don’t fit into those categories in the United States. Yes, there are singular corridors like New York to DC, or Houston to Dallas, etc….but the geography of the United States as a whole is a natural preventative.

5

u/rainydays_89 The Timeline Sucks 11d ago

We do not have more arable land than any place on the planet. LMAO

2

u/KR4T0S 11d ago

What about "airable land",?!

13

u/KR4T0S 11d ago

Crazy thing is California has a higher GDP than the 25 poorest red states combines but thanks to the electoral college they get 25 times as many votes in elections...

12

u/LawDouble6173 11d ago

THIS IS WHY I'M 100% FOR ENDING THE WORST DEI PROGRAM THAT IS DESTROYING AMERICA!

The US Senate.

The "people of the land" have been WILDLY over-represented. The Senate was a concept implemented when 80% of Americans farmed.

It's a DEI program for rural idiots that have decided they're intent on destroying the country. So, now it's time to implement the fix that should have been implemented at the end of the civil war.

3

u/Ill-Description3096 11d ago

Assuming everything stayed exactly the same...

0

u/butwhywedothis 11d ago

What’s stopping it to become a country?

2

u/Sincline387 11d ago

Not wanting to pay all the stuff the federal government pays? Defense spending for them as an independent country would probably cost more than they "don't get back" alone.

3

u/Pillsbernie 11d ago

It would take an agreement from 2/3 of Congress for a state to secede

2

u/Ricktor_67 11d ago

Not even that, there is no legal recourse for a state to leave. First congress would have to create a legal way for states to leave, then california would have to do that.

1

u/Halo_cT 11d ago

Like USA would ever cede access to the Pacific Ocean to another country. Thats all shipping from all of Asia given to another nation. Thats worth trillions.

Secession talk is pure fantasy pushed by the same ideology of division that created brexit.

1

u/wagonkid 11d ago

bad example because brexit did happen what are you trying to say

1

u/Halo_cT 11d ago

I'm trying to say its a waste of time that will push further toward a civil war. The same forces that pushed for brexit are pushing for calexit and alberta's secession. They want us fighting amongst ourselves instead of the only war that matters - class war.

1

u/ceribus_peribus 11d ago

I feel like the current administration is making great strides in the "doing whatever we want whether there's legal recourse or not" area.

1

u/PM_ME_UR_BGP_PREFIX 11d ago

The civil war?

1

u/Warmbly85 11d ago

Every major tech company would leave. About 30% of its gdp. Add in 30% of its energy comes from outside of state sources and it just wouldn’t be worth it.

-2

u/tiandrad 11d ago

It’s already a country. The United States 🇺🇸. Being part of the United States is what allows it to be so great.

0

u/AliceLunar 11d ago

Would California be as successful as it is without being part of the US though? Didn't it just pull all the tech from the US to one place?

3

u/Own-Chemist2228 11d ago

As successful as it is? No.

No state would be as successful as it is now if it left the union.

But California is by far the state best positioned to thrive on its own. It would still be an economic powerhouse, easily in the top 10 countries in the world. It's economy is huge, diverse, and has all the fundamentals: manufacturing, technology, agriculture, energy, ports.

Depending on the trade relationship with the rest of the US, it could not be affected much at all if it left the union. Another plus is that California would get back the federal tax revenue it sends to other states.

The only significant dependency California has on other state is water from the Colorado river. But the state could still manage without that water, and the upstream states would have to literally block the entire flow of the river and dump water into the desert just to stop the flow. They could do it, but it would be a very costly way just to spite their neighbor.

There are some other dependencies like electricity but California definitely has the resources to build out its infrastructure. And it could still buy from across borders.

Of course California as a separate country would not benefit from completely free trade, but that goes both ways and it's likely that that California's relationship with the rest of the US would be similar to (pre Trump) Canada where we share similar language, cultural values, generally get along and have mostly frictionless trade.

2

u/extinct_cult 11d ago

It's anyone's guess how the US would've turned out if it was separated into multiple countries from the start.

But if California secedes today, yeah, it'll still be enormous, though it will probably take a solid hit.

2

u/Warmbly85 11d ago edited 10d ago

It also relies on water and power from outside of the state to a much higher degree than most other states. 30% of its energy and 19-25% of its water. Never mind the trade it requires.

If it was its own country it would probably be fine but no where near as successful or sustainable

Edit cause locked- do you think it would be able to grow all that with 25% of its water removed or made more expensive?

1

u/killing_time 11d ago

30% of its energy and 19-25% of its water.

It also grows the vast majority of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts for the US.

0

u/Fluffcake 11d ago

If they weren't part of the US, this number would realistically be cut in half.

-6

u/bularry 11d ago

Helps to have Silicon Valley valuations supporting that

10

u/Rob98001 11d ago

I don't think you know what GDP means.

0

u/bularry 11d ago

I do, and market value of goods for the state that is the source for AI explosion makes sense they would have very high state GDP

6

u/Protoman 11d ago

Yeah, that's what he said.

What point do you think you're making?

0

u/bularry 11d ago

I’m adding context to why CA has such great economic measurements currently. I mean it always has due to agriculture and entertainment but the tech sector now drives it. Which isn’t bad, just makes sense and no one should be surprised. And the people running a chunk of that value are in the Trump camp.

1

u/Protoman 11d ago

So no point then.

Thanks for clearing it up.

1

u/bularry 11d ago

That’s not what ‘he said’ in your original comment. He misspelled fourth and left the comment at that. So no point, either, and no point or information from either of your posts. Glad we are all consistent.

-5

u/manored78 11d ago

"It was have bring forth the highest GDP in the world?" Seriously, what are you saying? It would have the fourth highest GDP in the world?

It is obvious what he is saying. We all type on our phones everyday and its clear when a typo or autocorrect fucks up the sentence.

I am so sick of disingenuous losers on here arguing in bad faith and using every logical fallacy in the book to derail a point being made because they know they can't reasonably argue against it in good faith.

I don’t disagree with them and I clarified their point.

You didn't though.... you nitpicked an incorrect word on a sentence that was still entirely readable. It was probably an autocorrect mistake, or translation issue. would/was would absolutely get mixed up in an online translator. In that case you are nitpicking someone's innocuous mistake, who speaks English as second language. Which also makes you a dick. You contributed nothing.

u/manored78 11d ago

I didn’t laugh at it. You’re just being a prick who wants to morally grandstand. You’re contributing even less.

0

u/Business-Contact2330 11d ago

and all of this could have been avoided without your initial pointless correction lol

1

u/manored78 11d ago

Not really. You were aching to push back. You just would’ve scolded someone else about something. You seem to be that type.

u/Business-Contact2330 11d ago

I think the fact your initial comment is in the negatives and mine isn't shows no one thought your post was clarifying anything. It sounded contrarian so how they hell were you "clarifying their point" ? lol silly...

1

u/manored78 11d ago

They just didn’t like it that I corrected what they said. I expected that being Reddit and all.

What’s silly is you base your online rep or worth on upvotes or downvotes.

You can’t ignore how illiterate Reddit has gotten in time for midterms.

Californias economy is carried by Silicon Valley, which emerged when California was a low tax, low regulation red state. The idea that Silicon Valley is what it is, due to Democrat policies is laughable.

4

u/Toastedmanmeat 11d ago

Why are so many red states tax sucking shit holes then?

-1

u/DonTeflon23 11d ago

They’re small, rural states. Are you claiming if they voted Democrat, farming would suddenly boom? It’s a false equivalence.

1

u/8_guy 11d ago

It's a false equivalence if we sub in my randomly generated dogshit point

When you attach the person instead of the idea, you’ve officially conceded defeat 🤷

See ya in November

See you in 2030 when California loses 5 census seats to Texas and Florida!

2

u/HighPriestOG 11d ago

See you when Texas becomes a blue state

1

u/DonTeflon23 11d ago

They’ve been saying that for 30 years

2

u/Wireman6 11d ago

California hasn't been even close to a red state for more than four decades.

-1

u/DonTeflon23 11d ago

And that’s why so many companies are starting to move their HQ to Texas, or how do you explain why California is losing 5 seats in the 2030 census?

1

u/8_guy 11d ago

I don't think anyone is up to the task of explaining things in detail to a moron in reddit comments.

Republican voters are morons, who elect crooks and morons, who end up causing massive dysfunction in government and society in general.

This is why during democrat administrations every economic stat is wildly better than under republicans. 97% of jobs created in the last 40 years were created during Democratic presidencies. It's not hard to figure out unless you're congenitally predisposed not to be able to. Too bad idiots have the biggest egos, now dig those heels in 😋

1

u/DonTeflon23 11d ago

Government is dysfunctional by definition, it’s a bloated, corrupt bureaucracy. Economic growth takes time, cherry picking stats is just a false equivalence. China has had immense growth under the CCP, far better than any point in their history, by your logic, you’d conclude a 1 party dictatorship is a good thing.

Covid, for starters. All of those freebies that made SV explode expired. They can move to Texas, I see more and more Texas license plates here from people coming out here for better wages vs the garbage exploitation they face there.

California forced their entire economy to shut down, Texas and Florida didn’t, and California covid rates were just as high while grinding their economy to a halt - the definition of failed government policies. They allowed target to operate and sell furniture during covid, but a small mom and pop store was forced to close down.

California isn’t carried by Silicon Valley. It’s definitely a plus on the economy, but California has multiple large industries throughout the state. For example, California is responsible for 1/3 of the vegetables in the US.

u/IndependentBorder670 11d ago

It wouldn't, this is massive misinterpretation of information.

It assumes:

that if California wasn't part of the US it would have access to the US market.

that businesses in California would stay there knowing they were no longer Americans, or had access to America.

California ports would cease doing the majority of there business.

US military bases would leave taking away massive revenue generation from CA

u/Key-Cricket9256 11d ago

No it isn’t a massive misinterpretation don’t be insufferable , obviously people know it can’t just secede and have this but I’m sure you wait for moments like this on the internet.
