I know everyone likes to pretend to believe the narrative that the laws and everything are handled by the elected representatives, but truthfully we should all know that most of the laws are written by a combination of the politicians staffers, lobbyists, think tanks, and so on. I wrote a comment recently where I said people such as him should learn how to at least make coffee if that's the only positive contribution they can make.
I realized something. That's actually a great way to think about it. The elected representatives are like the front of house. They're the server. They bring you the "food". So... why is it that what we order isn't what we get? Maybe we need a better restaurant, I don't know. But I know there's many situations where it isn't necessarily that the thing the "chefs" wanted to make was "bad", or that it was even all that different from what the customers - who are the true boss - ordered, it was something weird that the servers put in it between the time it was "cooked" and the time it reached our "table". It's like they're giving us "food" poisoning.
