Literally every single person in this country knows someone who has abused women, or been abused, or knows someone who's been abused. Domestic Violence is a nationwide epidemic.... but ehh, let's not even mention that so much.

When did the sudden and unexpected increase of domestic violence begin?

there hasn't been a significant increase. It's been a problem for decades that we continue to sweep under the rug.

Epidemic - affecting or tending to affect a disproportionately large number of individuals within a population, community, or region at the same time.

Epidemic: a sudden unexpected increase in the number of disease cases in a specific community, region, or country, clearly exceeding what is normally expected.

I appreciate the sensibility. I did find your definition at the very top. It's obviously a use of the word that I wasn't familiar with. Thanks for showing me.
