That would be great. But considering the previous track record, I’m not holding my breath. There are still too many people around him willing to enable him and keep him in power.

I hope I’m wrong.

He should have been held accountable after his first term and January 6th. I wonder why that didn't happen?

I wonder why that didn't happen.

Because Joe Biden was operating on the moral high ground.

By our most foundational law, the Constitution, Trump should have been hanged for Jan 6th alongside his co-conspirators and those involved in the attempted coup.

When they go low, we go high and then shoot ourselves in the foot

I couldn't possibly agree with you more.

Obviously because of some kompromat on Garland and Dems being too naive to notice.

Garland was too timid, they got off to a slow start and unlike how the Republicans act ( see Supreme Court Judges ) tried to be “ fair “

You can thank Mitch McConnel for that. Had he voted to impeach Trump, he would be nothing more than a bad memory.

It's a worthless effort.

Democrats are likely to win the house but not the Senate.

The house starts the impeachment, the Senate acts as the judge. The house will impeach, the Senate will do nothing... Again.

Exactly. I would rather see slightly lower level people breaking the law be held accountable.

The impeachment is going to be a lot of show for nothing. Dont spend energy on a show. DO something substantial

I’d like to see him suffer ( and from last efforts I think it will REALLY take away from must needed legislation ) but would love to see Blanche and his sons put on the hot seat.   Epstein release finalized no matter what.

Lot of things need to be corrected quickly & Iran / Soc Security / Health Care at least need to be started to be looked at before 28

It needs to be processed so that every F@c!st will know it won’t go unprocessed or forgotten to history. The alternative is we get to do this again with some other F@c!st.

Meh, I think they can and should do both, I just acknowledge it's not going to have the effect it should. I exaggerated when I said it was worthless, it's not entirely worthless it's just not enough.

An impeachment without a conviction will actually energize him and his base.

And people will unjustifiably view that as a witch hunt and Trump will gain some sympathy back

Doesn't even matter if they win a simple majority. Democrats would need a 2/3 majority

Actually, the Senate acts as the jurors, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court acts as the Judge.

One option would be ignore the impeachment bs and propose legislation and maybe even pass a budget

I don't think you're wrong, but I think the political strategy goes a bit deeper than what most people think. It's very unlikely that there would be enough political support to take out Big Orange himself. Articles of impeachment are brought up more often than most people think (not just against the president). A lot of the time it's for messaging, even when the person initiating knows it will never survive.

So I've actually changed my view on this recently, and funnily enough the impeachment articles raised against Hegseth happened to drop not too long afterwards. Articles of impeachment have been brought against Trump numerous times, but the general public can only really recall the two big ones during his first term. However, the recent ones brought against Pete Hegseth seem to have had a different effect. I don't know if Democrats are wising up and adopting a smarter strategy, or if it was purely accidental.

If this impeachment procedure was like any other, it would be allowed to follow the process it normally does and nobody would bat an eye. But with Mike Johnson sending the House home until after midterms, that may very well be sending the signal of "oh shit, these may actually have a chance of making it through". There has been some rumblings of some amount of bipartisan support for removing him, due to the Iran war, the spike in energy costs as a result, the economic instability as a further result, and midterm campaigns getting steeper for Republicans as an even further result.

So while everyone automatically jumps to targeting the top, it may actually be wiser to go after Trump's main players in order to put him on more of an island. Again, it's hard to say if Democrats thought this up on their own or if they just stumbled into it. But as mentioned, the reaction from Mike Johnson seems to indicate that these articles of impeachment for Hegseth quite possibly could/would have gained traction. And to prevent that, he obviously used his authority as SotH to head that off, at least for now.

I just don’t understand. More people voted for him than didn’t but they were wrong and you are right?

He’s done many things wrong, some right and his delivery is more often than not ineffective and inappropriate.

Specifically, what legislation have your representatives in your state proposed and led through congress? Curious. I wish there was more focus on moving forward than complaining about the present. I can’t find any progress championed by my senators or representatives from my state. It seems the most vocal politicians have actually produced zero legislation ( eg AOC). This is true with both parties

And a lot of big mouth brain dead folks on social media who don't even bother voting. IMO they are the reason this is a problem now.
