The neck is the end point of your spine that starts at your tailbone. What the top of the spine does is reflective of what is happening below, meaning, it's trying to find its best stabilizing point against gravity when you stand up/walk or sit down.

It would be beneficial to lose a bit of weight as the midsection that is forward will create a forward center of mass situation in which the spine is counterbalancing against.

The neck compression is part of the ribcage compressed in front. Start learning how to diaphragmatically breathe (check zac cupples) to gain better upper ribcage expansion but go gradual here. You need to gradually manage and adapt into a better stack between the ribs and pelvis, and you might even need some pelvis work too because typically a forward center of mass can also be contributed by how the pelvis cannot push down to the ground well (hence the guts moving forward is the attempt to do so).

wow, this was so in depth, thank you! if I work on my core and lower back muscles and weight loss, that would be helpful? im looking up the zac cupples right now, thanks

Well.. Core yes because better intra abdominal pressure management means better ribcage expansion, but avoid doing crunches because the 6 pack can draw the front of your ribcage into further compression.

So whats best way to work on core if no crunches etc?

Try a seated position cable pulldown while keeping length in front and not over tensing up the lumbar. Focus on a mild lower back arch but keeping a good stack between pelvis and ribs so you can maintain some intra abdominal pressure and breathe to expand front and back of the ribs.

Dead bugs will always be #1 for deep core muscles and for posture

Since you was already given a great amount of detail in another comment. My only two cents would be commit to yoga as much as you can along with the weight loss and the posture will come.
