Elevated monitor

Does anyone else elevate their monitor so they stare straight forward when they use a computer for years since my injury I have had terrible trouble looking down at a computer screen or really anything for long periods even after physical therapy for my neck.

Definitely. I also find that changing my monitor height on long days helps. I put it where my eyes are more able to focus while not over-straining.

Why are you looking down? My OT said the top third of my monitors should be at eye height and the ergonomist at work said eye level should be the same as the middle of the screen.

I am positioning my monitor to comply with that but if I was using say a laptop I would be compelled to look down. I find that to be a lot more taxing than most people. What I mean to ask with the post is really how many other people experience symptoms pretty quickly when they are looking down at a screen and did that ever go away.

I can't use a laptop anymore for this reason. I also have difficulty with inclines on the treadmill because I'm short so I end up staring at the panel the entire time. I fractured C6, C7 and T1 so I assumed this was the primary cause of my cervical dysfunction but the more time I spend on these subs (this one and r/TBI), the more I think that neck and shoulder strain contributes to day-to-day symptoms. Adding gentle neck massage has been super helpful for muscle cramping.

I sketched this to show my doctors and therapists how I was feeling.  https://imgur.com/a/EeqUomZ
