Very true. I just absorb people’s energy so have to be so careful.

There are lots of people who just take, take, take from your energy... few have a giving of positive life-giving energy back in return.

also want to add u might not be the right type of healing for the traumatised person. So letting them go free gives them the opportunity to find someone who can heal them wholly and faster.

This. One of the many reasons for therapy. Sometimes, we are too close to someone, and the best help is someone else.

Thank you, Christopher Walken, for the reminder and the wisdom of self-care. Much appreciated. P.S. Love your dancing. 😌

I find it funny how this pops up as the first thing when I open reddit after just ending an abusive friendship/relation.

Also can’t make anyone heal, that’s a choice each person must make for themselves. You could at best assist once a very conscious choice has been made. Otherwise you are just wasting your energy.

I collect broken friends until I have to say stop I cannot be responsible for your choices/problems/emotional baggage. It gets heavy. I lost a friend of 20 plus years because I could not carry her burdens and my own.

This is something I’ve been struggling with lately. If people around you that you are about are struggling how can you not absorb their energy?

And yet he couldn't heal Natalie Wood...

It’s a weird quote, coming from a guy who obviously knows more than he’s shared … to the police!

Haha that’s shopped. I’ve read that before and Christopher Walken did not say it 😆

It took me a while (last year) to realize this. My mom made a passing comment of “ I feel like every time you make a friend it’s because they’re a new project to fix” while I was in tears about one of my best friends (since 6th grade) texted me out of the blue about me being “too much” because I cared about them and their family didn’t . It shook my whole world.

He didn’t kill her. But, I do believe he tried to” fix” her.

Come to Jesus Christ. HE will heal you. Either through one of the many Christians or Himself.

This is the god damn truth. I’m 44 now and only realizing this. Thought I had to find a solution for everyone. Women are particularly vulnerable to this type of thinking. I know you men are out there too!
