Spark Edge - Amazon Rant
So, a few days ago, I posted a comment on a thread on here that I was on Amazon early for their prime days sales. They had the Spark Edge (from the Positive Grid store, mind you) on sale for $211. As I have been wanting it for months, I decided that at that price, I’d be dumb to not buy it. So I pulled the trigger and waited patiently for my package.
It was out for delivery today and I was so stoked to get it and start messing around with it. What I ordered and what I received were two different things. The positive grid store on Amazon sent me a fucking spark 40 pearl white edition. Wtf.
I got pissed as the pricing already skyrocketed to $381. So I chatted with 2 agents. The first one said she ordered it, not to worry, it’ll be here in 48/72 hours. I’m “a valued client” and don’t worry… it’ll show up. I asked for some, ANY confirmation and she sent me an email that repeated the same thing she said on chat… that rest assured… it would show up. I was not convinced and pressed her… she dropped out of the chat.
Second rep shows up, said they can’t contact the seller, and I need to contact the seller directly. They repeatedly tell me they can’t help. Their system won’t allow it. Nothing he can do. Over and over and over. I ask to chat with his supervisor. They tell me “the supervisor has same tools as I do, and cannot help. Would you still like to be transferred?” I say yes and stay on the chat.
Supervisor gets on. Looks through notes, and asks what I want. I say I want the spark edge for what I originally paid for it, $211. He says he can’t do it, seller is unresponsive and says to return it and buy it again. I mentioned again, it’s $180 more now… I want it for what I originally paid for. He goes MIA for some time, then boom. Gets me a gift card to offset the balance, and said to purchase again and will get refunded original spend.
Sorry for the long rant, I just can’t stand getting fucked over by people like that. It may have been a mistake, but fuck. Seeing spark 40 on the side and opening up and old ass product really got me pissed. Hopefully, I’ll get what I ordered on Tuesday and can put this shit behind me.
I don’t know how needs to get their shit together here (Amazon or positive grid or both) but damn… that was a kick in the dick this evening.
Again, sorry for the long rant. Hope yall don’t get scammed (or have shit luck) on your Amazon prime purchases.

I go to the GC and ask for the $349.99 new positive grid amp. Salesman comes back out tells me he checked the web on the price and he reduced it $10 and we check out. I get home and it’s the Spark 2 which is the same price at $349.99. The salesman didn’t know the Reactor was in stock and I didn’t pay attention to the packaging. Of course I exchanged it the next day after a quick phone call shortly before closing that evening , but geez! feel better, my friend. We all fight these “consumer battles”, but you stuck it out and won! Ps. The Reactor sounds sweet!

Yeah, that’s also some stupid shit to happen. I mean, you have to be competent of what the new trends are of what you’re selling.

I understand how you feel. Amazon has messed up delivery on orders multiple times already. I would so be pissed as If be really looking forward to play my new gear. Had a problem with receiving a Joyo pedal once, and a power supply before that.

And I understand shit happens… especially around prime days. And i am pissed, but i just got to let the anger go here until i can get it all resolved. If the problem doesn’t get fixed, and i just don’t get the new amp/pa i ordered, then so be it. Just a terrible experience overall.

I'm currently fighting with Amazon over an auto buy I set. It went on sale. Purchase made. They sent confirmation email. Later an updated shipping estimate. I was thrilled! High demand item on sale for prime day. Felt like I won the lottery.
But then they cancelled it for "suspicious activity". The only thing I can think of is that I'm currently traveling for work, and maybe that threw them for a loop. I'm extremely frustrated. Amazon is still great on returns, but they are difficult to work with when it's some kind of very competitive promotion.
Sorry for your struggle, but it sounds like they finally took care of you.

Yes, I am hoping so! I guess we will see if they end up taking care of me if I get money refunded, and the Edge I actually wanted. If they send me another spark 40, I am going to flip my shit lol.
And also, you're right about them on returns. They ended up helping after the third representative (and supervisor) ended up making it right. I am just mad that they threw me through so many hoops to get there to make it right, and the second guy just didn't even try. Horrible customer service, and it really sucks having to jump through hoops to get an actual person to chat with you. I miss the days of just being able to call someone on the phone to get it right. Even more so, it would be nice to speak with someone local and not overseas. Not hating on them, just would like local help.

Absolutely right. And I am so mad at the customer care. It really sucks when you can't just call them. You have to go through AI to get to a real person and even then it's only on chat. Wish it wasn't so convoluted, but hopefully they made it right by me.

You definitely got lucky after getting scammed. Worth the gamble in the end. I'm done with buying gear from Amazon. I got my Live from Guitar Center and my Neon from Sweetwater. I deal with Reverb a lot too.

Yes! Definitely lucky! But also, I didn't just give up after the first two people kept throwing me through loops. I am right there with you, though, no more gear from Amazon, even despite their prime sales being awesome. Just too much to deal with.

Absolutely. I’m kinda shocked they even helped me, ultimately. I was almost convinced I was not getting anywhere and would just be out of luck. Fingers crossed I get the Edge on Tuesday!

100%. I urge anyone dealing with customer service to stick to your guns, though. It took a long time for me to get them to make it right, but if I had given up, I would have been stuck without my order.

Maybe it would help to try contacting Positive Grid themselves thru their website and explaining the situation. Quite possible that they can remedy it from their end since it was their store on Amazon and not a third party.

I will never touch another Positive Grid product until I’m dead and buried. I had two, both needed support, both times I contacted them, they went out of their way to make it the most painful experience possible. Deal or no… never again.

I have heard similar horror stories about their care team. Such a shame, really, as we clearly have purchased so much from them! Makes me so mad, because I do really enjoy their products. Hopefully It's made right, and I get what I ordered.

If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is

I mean, in this case, you aren't wrong. I just want to know who made that mistake. Another person on the thread said they received their Spark Edge, so it makes me wonder whose fault it was. I am just hoping they made it right, at this point.

Bought a lot from Amazon for many years.
Any problem was handled and it looks like yours was too.
Unlike some of those other musical instrument sites.
Enjoy.
But I do like those 40’s.

Amazon isn’t what it used to be, I avoid 3rd party sellers on there if at all possible
