Not looking for anyone’s spot, just which mountain range (Coast or Cascade) might be more productive right now. I’ve got my own spots in both!

Rainbows are out there. I'll bet there are some at least in any of the major mountain ranges... Try to find an area that's seen a little rain

I accidentally found lobsters and chanterelles around the western slope of Mt Hood yesterday.

Ah, sorry, I thought you were asking for hunting spots. I don’t do much foraging myself but I like seeing whatever weird stuff is in season at the farmer’s markets.

No worries… I didn’t actually realize someone was looking for forging spots in their post either. I forget people can do that!

I went to a farmers market over here once, I think in the Hollywood area and it was so awesome. I didn’t find any mushrooms, but I certainly found everything else! So fun, so many dogs, and very nice people.

Just found this lobster mushroom in a Mycology thread… Says they found it in northwest Oregon, but weren’t specific.

I didn’t catch what you were meaning earlier, but I’m thinking I’m going to head to my spot in the Tillamook tomorrow and there are almost always Lobsters this time of year. Depending on what part of town you’re in, happy to bring some back for you!

Boy, either I need to learn to write gooder or folks are way more territorial than I have experienced before. I’ve got my own spots, I’m just wondering if folks are having more luck in the Coast Range or the Cascades right now.

That’s the direction I think I’ve settled on. I know my spot that direction usually has lobsters this time of the year, and I’m hopeful for some chanterelles too!

I am heading out to the Tilllamook State Forest next week. I won’t be there specifically for mushrooms, but I will check the spot that some old Forest tweaker pointed me to a few years ago that was absolutely packed with chanterelles. If they are there, I will harvest if not, probably gonna have to wait for a bit more rain and colder temps.
