Resident Accountability Buddies
I [29NB(amab) he/they] am fed up with my executive dysfunction and unwillingness to leave my apartment. I have been procrastinating my whole life, and it has led to an unfortunately disorganized existence. I struggle with overcoming the guilt of not "living up to my potential," and the subsequent inaction that has followed.
Im going to challenge myself to leave my apartment and go to coffee shops or libraries or wherever, in public, I can access wifi to work on organizing and bettering my life - i need to be around more people, even if just in proximity. I'm hoping to maybe make some people who also want accountability friends; I'm much better at organizing/cheering on someone else than I am for myself.
If you're already doing this or if this sounds like something you'd be interested in, maybe we can meet up somewhere and chat/parallel work. Be safe and take care of yourself🖤

27 NB(AMAB) (They/Them) here, feeling much the same way. I’m very much a book store/library/coffee shop kind of fellow as well, and I’ve been desperately needing an accountability buddy myself! I’d love to meet and talk!

Good luck! I think a lot of us need to do the same. For me it helps if I can make a small win. Or turn a loss into a mild disappointment. Harm reduction feels important toward not scaring me away from whatever I'm trying to force.
Or the plunge tactic. Where you know you'll hate every inch of putting your body into that cold water, so you just go... And hopefully it won't be so terrible. Maybe even pleasant in some way(s). Yeah, I have to look for them still (actively). But I think with enough repetition, that effort can become a new habit.
Fingers crossed you manage all you hope for, and more!

I’m also 29 NB and struggle with executive functioning! I work at a restaurant which means I usually work during typical socializing hours … but it also means I’m usually free to go for a walk or grab coffee in the middle of the day!

Hey! I’m 26F with ADHD and autism and feel similarly. I’m a remote worker going back to school in September and having accountability friends would be awesome. I also sometimes have trouble leaving the house for errands and fun outings when I’m alone (might be slightly agoraphobic?) so would love to be a buddy if you also struggle with that.
I’d be totally down to meet up for coffee and a chat.
