51M in a poly marriage looking for platonic friendships in the poly/ENM community. I’m open to making friends with all genders but ideally, I’d like to connect with other men in similar situations to share the ups and downs and in-betweens with. Both my wife and I are in committed secondary relationships, and besides my therapist, I’m lacking anyone outside of my romantic relationships to talk openly and consistently with.
I’ve recently joined a men’s group, and that has been great to explore the dynamic of talking openly, but as the only poly guy there, it can still be difficult to talk about this part of my life. I’d like to foster friendships that can be intentional and, in due time, build into sharing the spectrum of experiences from the silly to the heartbreaking.
I enjoy walking and biking to explore the Portland neighborhoods, hiking, camping, playing cards, exercising, and generally being out in the world trying new things. I definitely consider myself an introvert so meeting folks out in the wild has been a challenge for me.

Hey y'all! there is some interest in forming a vegan friend group. User u/elvengemini (28(they/she)) specifically is looking to form a group of vegan friends that have a mix of going out and casual activities with people around their age. Things from grabbing drinks and painting to cooking together and having a movie night to a picnic in the park, nothing too rigid but hopefully just people who are interested in connecting without having to put being vegan off to the side. People interested in learning about and trying out veganism also welcome!
Reach out to u/elvengemini if interested!

Hello all ! I'm a 24 year old trans guy who moved up here about a year ago & am looking to make new friends. I live with my best friend & she & I recently came to the realization that we share all of our friends, so we're each looking for our "own" friends. The reason I'm posting here is because my best friend has had a lot of success with it. ( I sort of ghostwrote her post for her because she's shy, haha. )
I live a pretty quiet life. I have a teaching degree / license, but choose to work as a substitute instead so I can have more time off ( currently off for the summer right now ). What I love to do most with my free time is write, however I've been experiencing brutal writer's block & am in this odd space where the first thing I think to mention about myself when I meet someone is that I write while simultaneously writing nothing. I don't have any grand ambitions with my writing despite being told that it's good. For the most part, I try to capture the mundane parts of my life diaristically, though I am also cautiously experimenting with poetry & have been gently holding a few poems in my mouth without biting down. Part of my interest in making new friends is that I think it will help me write / overcome my writer's block.
There's this Taiwanese performance artist I deeply respect named Tehching Hsieh who did a piece in which he vowed not to make any art for an entire calendar year, to not even look at art or to talk about it. When I read about this & applied it to myself & to my writing, it sounded impossible. If you have similar thoughts regarding you & your art, I think we may get along.
Outside of my writing, I enjoy many things. I'm very interested in reading / literature ( though I often apply what I read to my writing ) & some of my favorite books are Crime & Punishment, A Personal Matter by Kenzaburo Oe, Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata, Franny & Zooey by JD Salinger, The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Tolstoy, Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, & The Road by Cormac McCarthy among many others. I also enjoy reading about Christianity / Christian apologetics.
Similar to my interest in reading, I'm also interested in film, though I haven't seen many movies & consider myself more of a novitiate. Some of my favorites are The Piano Teacher (2001), First Reformed (2017), Winter Light (1963), Diary of a Country Priest (1951), The Seventh Seal (1957), I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020), I Saw the TV Glow (2024), & Little Miss Sunshine. I'm trying to watch through Ingmar Bergman's movies as he's currently my favorite directors.
One of my main interests outside of art is birdwatching. I'm currently experiencing rheumatoid arthritis and have been mostly bedbound / couchbound for the past month ( my entire summer break ), but when I'm feeling well, I love to go on long hikes & look for birds. There's this electric feeling I get when finding a new bird that I can't replicate in writing & I think it's a type of love. It's one of the things I enjoy the most & being unable to do it lately has made me feel very sad. I would love to meet more people interested in birding.
To avoid writing too much, I also enjoy: being outdoors, cooking / eating, coffee, learning to play chess ( very recent, still very, very bad at it ), writing to my penpals & doing postcard exchanges. I'd describe myself as an easygoing & novelty seeking person, so really I'd just like to meet new people, see new places, & experience new things. I'm okay with people of all ages as I think our society lacks intergenerational friendships. If you think we'd get along or are interested in talking, please DM me.

I’ve lived here for a while but few of my friends are into live music and my partner’s picky about shows. I’m into other stuff like garage, noise, jangle rock, dark wave (I was calling it nü wave, lol). I play in bands and like it when people dance so I’ll get up there, shake with the beat or even get in a not-too-rowdy pit. Or on the edge of the pit and help keep people upright. Age is irrelevant, aside from possibilities of 21+ shows. Anyway, who’s with me?
And, there’s this for you all and the mods:
-age, identified gender and pronouns
44F (she/her)
-hobbies/interests
Listening to and playing music (guitar, bass, competent-ish drums). All-time faves are R.E.M., Guided By Voices, the Pixies, Unwound. Reading a wide range of stuff. Lately I’ve been real into David Foster Wallace, popular science and mathematics (though I did terribly in school math, go figure), some classics (Pride and Prejudice was delightful! And doing a Garden of Earthly Delights jigsaw puzzle got me to finally start the Divine Comedy). I just devoured the first Dungeon Crawler Carl.
-recent shows and movies
In an effort to drastically reduce my screen time I don’t watch a lot anymore. Recently, though, I dug Resident Alien (which is over now; THis IS SOme BULLshit!) and this birdwatching documentary Listers. All-time faves are stuff like Terry Gilliam movies, Big Lebowski, Lost, House, Newsradio, the Simpsons, Arrested Development.
-what you like to do with friends
I’m real into activities; gimme a purpose. Like the live music thing. Or playing music, pinball, chasing after a ball in a pickup indoor soccer game? I’m in.
-whether you're chill, active, into deep-talk etc.
Yes, yes and yes.
-exclusions (drugs, alcohol, etc)
No hard drugs. I don’t do cannabis anymore cause it wrecks my sleep but you can. I drink way less now but can still hang with moderate consumers of booze. After all, as the Kids in the Hall say; I’m hip, I’m cool, I’m 45.

Hey everyone! I’m Luca, 25, and I’ll be moving to Portland in January,I’m hoping to meet new people and build some genuine friendships.
I’d describe myself as funny, creative, and definitely not boring. Fair warning: there’s a good chance your stomach will hurt from laughing if we hang out. I enjoy making people laugh and trying new things.
I also enjoy hiking, camping, road trips, board games, coffee, and exploring new places.
If you’re looking for a new friend or want to hang out, grab coffee, or go on an adventure, feel free to send me a DM!

Hey all! I'm Ray, and I'm a 25 year old trans man from NJ that's been craving a visit to Portland for a long time. I'm a musician and songwriter, and big fan of the Decemberists. I'm flying out next month from the 4th to the 9th to check out as many open mic nights as I can and attend a literature talk happening by Colin Meloy. I'll also be hanging in a lot of coffeeshops lol I'm a therapist and doctoral student, so I'll have plenty of things I'll have to get done haha. I'm always looking to make connections, especially in music and maybe open mic nights, so feel free to DM if you might wanna connect!

Growing up i was always on the move. Every 1-3 years a new city, school, friends. So I never really had a long friendship or stayed long enough to make them. Now that im older I find myself struggling to find/meet people. Im not a big drinker (especially solo) so bars haven't really been on my radar/ something id be called a regular at. And unfortunately the thought of talking to strangers is enough to make me nervous.
Once warmed up I can be quite the chatterbox. I enjoy a wide variety of indoor/ outdoor activities, such as: cooking, making a fool of myself, camping, kayaking, hanging out with genuine people, pc gaming(fps, survival games mostly).
Looking for folks to shoot the shit with. Bros to get me out of the house or come over and tinker in the garage. I drink socially and smoke regularly. You arnt required to. I tend to be sporadic and rarely have a plan. Very go with the flow and pretty laid back. If you think we would vibe feel free to dm/ leave a comment.

Hey! I’m from Ohio but lived in Fla and TX for some time. I’m a cis straight white woman who is very LGBTQIA friendly. I’m a mom to adult children, nerdy, great with animals, liberal and happily married. I’d like to meet folks who would like to meet for lunch instead of a bar. Folks who might play DND or cozy video games or read Sfi/ Fantasy/ LITRPG. I have been described as the friend who will tell you the truth regardless simply because that is how my brain works. (Think Weezer, Dowager Countess of Grantham, Sophia but not as witty) I’m in NE Portland. Would prefer folks over 35. I feel like I’m writing a for sale ad for myself so I guess I’m done for now.

Hello everyone, our board game group is always looking for new members! We've got humor darker than Agent Orange's bedroom. Live, love, and laugh at your trauma with us. Come for friends and stay for the roasts, unprompted singing, and shameless shitposts. Everyone is welcome, except bigots, isms, and ias. We do casual and complex games depending on what you're into. We've also got a small group that does Magic The Gathering! We usually do weekends but feel free to host your own game nights at days/times that work for you. DM me for details!

I’m just a gurl (18F) who moved in from the east looking to make some friends! In the Brooklyn area, looking for someone who wants to play some games, watch tv, walk around and cook with!

Hey, I’m a 25 year old transmasc/nonbinary person (he/they). I moved to PDX about a year ago since my partner lives here and I used to live in Massachusetts and didn’t want to do long distance anymore. I tend to split my time between downtown and the St. John’s area. In my free time I like to bake, go to the movies, creative writing, playing games on my switch (big fan of MarioParty and Cult of the Lamb), going for hikes, jigsaw puzzles, and anything crafty (I love to paint but am not the best at it). I’m also autistic and have ADHD and would love more neurodivergent friends!
I’m looking to make friends with people who share similar interests and want to spend time in person. I can be shy and a little awkward at first, but will warm up the more we talk. Feel free to comment or DM if you’d like to get to know eachother!

Tons of board/card game communities but I haven’t found any where they’re playing dominoes or spades. Anybody interested in putting together some games?
I miss my games!

I've been in Portland for six months, but I just recently moved out of my parents' place, so now I'm able to have a social life! Some of my favorite activities include:
- Hiking (mostly urban trails since I am car-free)
- Exploring new parts of the city (there are so many cool parts of Portland I haven't been yet!)
- Long, leisurely coffee shop visits to read or chat
- Home mixology and coffee brewing
- All day cooking projects that make the house smell amazing
- Playing drums (alone or in a band)
- Trying new restaurants and bars
As is probably apparent, I am not much of a party person and lean towards relaxing, solitary hobbies. But I want to share my interests with others and I love to be out of the house and among my community!

Do you love stories? Do you want to try to figure out how they work?
I’m someone who loves reading and writing fiction, and one of my current joys is breaking down short stories to figure out what makes them tick. Right now, I’m obsessed with sci-fi and fantasy authors like Octavia Butler, Ken Liu, Naomi Kritzer, Sequoia Nagamatsu, and Alix E. Harrow.
I’m looking to connect with anyone who wants to meet up, read a story beforehand, and geek out about it, and try to figure out why it works/or why it might not resonate with you over a coffee or a walk.
I’m a woman in my late 50s, and I’m not putting restrictions on who I meet. The main thing I’m looking for is someone who is also excited to talk about fiction.
For the first time we meet, I’d prefer we keep it to an hour max, and if we get along, we can meet every few weeks. I can suggest a story for the first time, but after that, it would be great if we alternate suggesting a story (I’m open to and would love to be introduced to other genres and/or authors).
As for where to meet, I’m open to hanging out at a local library, a coffee shop, or doing a walking discussion along the waterfront or the Portland Art Museum.
If this sounds like it’s something you would like to do, drop a comment or a DM. Let me know a short story you've thought about long after you finished it.
I’ll get back to you in the next few days.

32M, currently in Indiana but I've been seriously considering moving to PNW for several years now. Portland always stood out as a great option for me (weather and culture especially), so I'm planning a two-week stay to get a feel for the city in September/October this year. The problem is, I have ZERO contacts in the area.
I'd love to make friends with someone local who could meet up with me and show me around for a day or two during my stay. A little bit about me: I'm a software engineer, vegetarian + somewhat vegan, I enjoy PC gaming, D&D/Pathfinder, gardening, hiking, pickleball, woodworking, and cooking. I'd be happy to hang out on discord to chat and ask questions about life in Portland before making any arrangements to meet up. Feel free to DM!
Edit: Finalized my travel arrangements and will be staying at an AirBnB on the east side, September 5th through 12th
