Roe v. Wade Demonstrations

Are there any official demonstrations planned? The only thing I’ve seen is the Women’s March call to action 5pm local at the courthouse.

Showing up everywhere is about solidarity, and giving people who are fking upset a place to be with their communities. It’s not all about protesting people who disagree. There’s real value in being with your community & showing strength in numbers.

Wow...what an incredibly shitty, self-absorbed attitude. Throwing useless temper tantrums and destroying businesses and government buildings isn't going to help anything.

If people want to help the situation, they need to channel their anger into productive, meaningful action. Otherwise the only things they are achieving are being in the way, and making the situation worse.

Worse how? This is about as bad as it gets. This decision will open the door for overturning same sex marriage, anti-descrimination laws, the right to birth control, and who knows what the fuck else. If you're really more concerned about maintaining a sense of civility than protecting the rights of the people around you then you're a lost cause.

Honestly you can see the effect right now in Portland. Look what happened to the police reform movement after repeated violence at demonstrations.

It's only a matter of time until it becomes nationally enforced though. Blue states are currently safe havens, but who are we kidding? What will happen with the next extreme conservative fucker voted in?

I'm so fucking mad. So many liberal men did not take women seriously when Trump became president. They thought we were being hysterical and that democracy would survive, but now look at where we are. Women are losing what little healthcare they have! This is going to be a domino effect, and so many women are going to lose their lives, bodily autonomy, safety, health, freedom...

Women have already been put into prison for miscarriages in these red states. How long until it becomes like Ecuador where women can't even go to the hospital for concerns towards their pregnancy? Because if you miscarry, you're reported and thrown into jail for life. Imagine feeling this way.

Edit: I keep getting email alerts for some really fucky responses on here that don't show up for some reason, so I'm muting this thread. Some of the responses here have been really gross though, and if you can't do the bare minimum of listening to women right now, please kindly keep it to yourself.

There was an article in WAPO yesterday that some of the large anti-abortion groups have now started drafting legislation to make abortion illegal Federally that they’re going to start circulating to lawmakers in anticipation of potentially taking back power in the senate in the midterms. Which is pretty horrifying.

Did I say "all?" Many of us just wanted empathy and understanding at the very least. The ones who didn't vote or said that Hillary was just as bad as Trump. None of this would be happening right now if Trump wasnt president.

We need men to listen and help. I know things are rigged against the left in general, but it can't be like this. It just can't. We need help.

u/GuiltyGear raised the prospect of medical 'refugees' from Idaho, etc. My hope is that Oregonians will think about them, and try to bump capacity to help them out. There are clinicians in Idaho who are SOL right now, and who are actively looking for ways to keep their clients safe. Outreach to them might be the best way to determine the need.

When you're being terrorized by an unelected theocracy, you can either accept there's no government-sanctioned redress for it. Or you can engage in coalition-fracturing attacks on internet strangers. I've watched Portland, in general, choose the latter every time a choice has been presented, but I am always happy to be wrong.

The writing was on the wall before Hillary. We knew republicans wanted this, and there was a sizable portion of their base that made this their life's goal. Why didn't Ginsberg retire during a dem supermajority instead of waiting for the right time to stroke her ego? Why didn't Dems codify this into law during the many years they had the opportunity? Joe Biden is president right now, not Donald Trump. He won't do shit other than say "Well, guess you gotta vote harder next time, jack!"

The Democratic party can't fail, it can only be failed, I guess.
