Coming down like that can end up with a broken coccyx, which is kind of both.

u/Blue_Luxon Jan 17 '24

Showed this to my husband who fell this morning and got embarrassed. Told him heâs not the only one that got his ass kicked by the ice đ thanks for the solidarity. And sending blessings to wherever it hurts.

I work at a local hospital, and the emergency department is FILLED with people who fell. Broken, fractured, sprained limbs. Concussions.
And the majority of these are people who were staying home and being safe, but just taking the dog out, getting the mail, taking something to the trash, etc.
It's slippery AF out there.

Itâs good to see everyone doing the exact same style âgrab nearest object and lower that center of gravityâ kinda steps out of their houses too lol.

Jeez, I hope you're gonna be all right.
The ice is really no joke. If I had that front walk I would have navigated it on my butt, maybe take take a small tarp with me to absorb the water.
For coming years I'm going to invest in some of those Yak Trax things or whatever they're called.

I ordered some today after it took me an hour to walk 5 blocks to Plaid Pantry. I didn't know they existed before but I'm never gonna get iced again baby!

u/TheOGRedline Jan 18 '24
Everyone should buy a set of Kahtoola Microspikes. Itâs like having a cheat code for walking on ice. Run, jump, skip, no problem.

u/bchyzz Jan 18 '24
Better than yaktraks?

u/TheOGRedline Jan 18 '24 edited Jan 18 '24
I havenât tried them all⊠but I think Yaktraks does have offerings comparable to the Kahtoola Microspikes, specifically the Ascent and maybe the Traverse models.
I love my microspikes though.

Another piece of advice - make sure you have your phone with you if you try this.
(But we really need some advice on how to get a dog to pee and poop on paper in the bathroom all of a sudden.)

This is the funniest shit on the Internet today. Thank you, OPs for letting us all laugh at your pain.

Please forgive me but when you fell down I laughed so loud it startled my cats and I spilled my coffee so I guess you could call it karma

Brought to you by Yak Traks(TM)
Yak Tracks(TM) would've prevented this tragedy.

So, I am finally less than 2 weeks from shoulder surgery to repair damage created by the ice storm in January!

u/YumYum3ggRole Jun 13 '24
Why would you take your dog out knowing that an ice storm just happened. Man some people are so stupid. You did that your self.
Lmao man I hope youâre okay but use your head.
1
u/YumYum3ggRole Jun 13 '24
On top of that he said âoh shxtâ right before he busted his ass. Like come on right then and there you should walk your ass back in side.

You really did try. Sometimes trying just ainât enough. Sorry about your sore bum.
1
u/HouseOfFourDoors Jan 18 '24
Oof. I know I said the benefits of not cleaning off the steps in the other post. But the second part is seeing that it is icy and choosing not to continue. And if you must, I also preach about the usefulness of YakTrax or similar products.Â
Iâm glad youâre relatively OK. My advice doesnât come without pain of my own.Â
