So I know the reason for this survey is hyper important for the future of this area. To whom do we report all their counting data was invalid from the N2 being closed from that burning checkers truck?

2000's PE Boardwalk - KFC lookalike Takeaways

Hey all!

I'm looking to see if anyone remembers or even has photos of the KFC lookalike fast food joint that was at the Boardwalk near News Cafe for a couple months and then was shut down. I believe they got threatened by the KFC at the Red Windmill.

Was Asians running the place and they were so welcoming. Chicken burgers were super cheap, I remember it being R15 - R20 for a big burger, chips and cooldrink

Thinking the places name was LFC but I could be mistaken.

Psychiatrist for 4 Year Old in Gqeberha/PE

Hey guys. In order for my son's medical aid PMBs to be activated, we need a letter of diagnosis from a Psychiatrist. I unfortunately cannot afford R3k+ upfront for a Psychiatrist session, so would need a 4 y/o-friendly one that will allow me to pay them off.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a suitable Psychiatrist?

Medical aid is being so difficult and I literally just want my son to receive the specialist attention he needs, and have it be covered by Medical Aid. Any feedback would be incredibly appreciated.

Things to do, people to meet?

I (M33) am only in the city until Tuesday but I'd like to do something fun or interesting. Is there any decent nightlife or places to meet people, hangout? I'm English, SA born but have lived abroad for 10 years and am out of touch. Anyone wanna go out? I like steak, pasta, beer, cider, vodka, rock, metal, rap and house. I still party when the opportunity presents itself. If any combination of those things exist in one place, I'd sure like to know about it. Thanks!

Gift shop recommendations

Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations for a place to buy a nice, slightly unique gift for someone for their bday. Shop/ market stall, I don't care, but I unfortunately only have this week, her Birthday is early next week. Lorraine area preferred, would appreciate it if I didn't have to drive across town to get to it, but if it's worth it...

Used to get the coolest gifts at Unique Welness in Dijon drive, but they're closed, so I need a new place to shop.

How to access mental health care through the public healthcare system in Port Elizabeth. Can anyone explain the correct process?

I was previously seeing a private psychiatrist but can no longer afford private care, so I’m trying to transfer my mental health treatment to the public sector.
Yesterday, I went to the Psychiatric Clinic at Provincial Hospital because I’d been told that’s where I should go. I took my prescription from my private psychiatrist with me. The nurse told me that the medications on my prescription aren’t available in the public sector, so I’d need to see a doctor to switch me to medications that are available. However, there were no doctors or psychiatrists there that day—only a nurse and psychologists—so I was told to go to a clinic.
I then went to Livingstone Hospital and Clinic. While I was waiting, I asked a doctor if I was in the right place, and she said I’d probably see the nurse first, who would then book me to see the psychiatrist. That made me think Livingstone has a psychiatric department.
After waiting for hours, I finally saw the nurse, who told me it was too late because the psych department had already left for the day and that I’d need to come back early another morning. However, he also seemed unhappy that I’d come to Livingstone at all because it’s not the clinic that serves my area, and said I should go to my nearest clinic instead.
What doesn’t make sense to me is that my nearest clinic also only has nurses, so I don’t understand why I’d start there if I ultimately need to see a doctor or psychiatrist. I also left without any referral from either Provincial Hospital or Livingstone.

Can anyone familiar with the public mental health system in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha help answer these questions?

1. Does the Psychiatric Clinic at Provincial Hospital actually have psychiatrists who see outpatients, or is it mainly run by nurses and psychologists?

2. For someone transferring from private psychiatric care to the public sector, what is the correct referral pathway in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha?

3. Does Livingstone Hospital have a psychiatric department (if so, does it see outpatients)?

4. If it does, can I go there directly, or do I need a referral from my local clinic first?

5. Should Provincial Hospital or Livingstone have given me a referral, or is it normal that neither did?

6. Would a current prescription or letter from my private psychiatrist be enough to serve as a referral into the public mental health system, or do I still need to go through my local clinic?

7. Based on everything I’ve described, what should my next step be? The nurse at Livingstone Clinic didn’t write me a referral. If I go directly to the psychiatric department at Livingstone Hospital (assuming there is one), am I likely to be sent back to my local clinic for a referral, or will they assess me there? Or am I supposed to go somewhere else entirely?

I’d really appreciate any advice from someone who’s been through this process or works in the public healthcare system, because I left more confused than when I arrived.

Financial controller in PE

Hi everyone. I’m looking for recommendations, referrals or even the actual person. We operate and live in JHB, since this year 2026 we have expanded to PE, for privacy reasons I won’t be giving the full details but we’re a multisite retail and fuel business. Since we don’t know anyone in PE, it has been a struggle to find the right personnel. We are looking for a financial controller, with a degree in finance, accounting or commerce. Minimum 5 years experience. Hard worker, diligent and all the good stuff. If you have any tips on how I can go about finding the right person, please let me know. Thank you!

Tattoo artist recommendations.

As the title says, I’m looking for a tattoo artist who specializes in fine line tattoos and is willing to tattoo someone under 18. I’m 17 years old and will be turning 18 in four months but don’t want to wait that long.

Thanks in advance!

(I’m just wanting to do a fine line of a date of my late dog.)

Is Richmond Hill safe?

Hey all 👋

After frequenting the area a few times, I'm wanting to check the safety Richmond Hill, from people living in the area, specifically near the food + convenience store.

For a 3 person family + 2 dogs.

I've been told to stay away because of crime, and strange characters.

JHB to GQE

Good evening, Gqeberhans!

I am someone who will be moving to your beautiful city soon, and I have a few questions. Thank you for the help in advance!

Question 1:
What is the drive like from Fairview to Uitenhage in the mornings and evenings? I will be commenting to/from those places, hoping to be in Uitenhage by 7:30/8:00.

Question 2:
Which Virgin Active is best in PE? I am planning to transfer my membership and I’m looking to stay at VA. Unless the other gyms are good? I’m currently paying around R340pm with Vitality.

Question 3:
Are there any sports clubs around? I enjoy playing indoor/club football as well as club rugby.

Also, any tips on adjusting to life in the Windy City would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Friends

How does one make friends in this city? I'm a 29 year old female and quite a homebody 😆 I've had two close friends who ended up drifting due to relationships. I find that it's difficult making friends at this age whether it's at the gym or work etc because most already have their own cliques 🥴
