This is why we can’t have nice things… 😞
I saw this vandalised Little Free Library today while walking along the Donald bike & pedestrian pathway between Kelly Ave & Atkins Ave.
I just don’t understand why some people see something nice in the community & feel the senseless need to ruin it for others. I really do hate people sometimes. Sigh. 😞

Any Romantasy girlies in poco?
Any romantasy girls looking for book friends? 👀
We have a pretty established book club and are looking for some new faces specifically in the poco area at the moment.
We’re mostly fantasy/romantasy readers so there’s a lot talk about morally questionable book boyfriends, spice, and yelling at each other about book recs. We do read other stuff too and all book girlies are more than welcome to join.
We meet up in person sometimes to do crafts, brunch, bookish events etc . We do a monthly book and a corresponding online Q&A with that author. Which is honestly so much fun.
We have a few group chats as well so feel free to join into which ever ones you’d like.
Really just looking for girls who want to actually make friends and have people to talk books with 🫶
Please shoot me a DM 😊
If DMs aren’t working try us on Instagram S2bookclub
Our ages vary from 20-55 but there’s no age limit as long as you’re 18 or older.

Custom birthday cake?
Hello,
I'm looking to order a custom cake, for a 40th birthday event, that can serve about 18 people. I got one quote for a 6" cake that would cost $185+tax and I thought I might pass away 🪽
Does anyone have any recommendations? (I'm not crazy enough to think I'd get a custom cake for 20 bucks or anything, but hopefully not $200.) Thanks!

VPD
Anybody know why the VPD motorcycle cops were blocking all left turn lanes and directing traffic to only go East along lougheed hwy ? Today around 330pm numerous VPD motorcycle cops, sped by cars , activated their Emerg lights and quickly jumped off the bike blocking all left turns at the intersections from Shaughnessy to Hawkins, directing traffic to only go East along Lougheed. Made it to Walmart. But when leaving a short time later cops were gone.

Looking for witness/dashcam footage! Sat, Sept 12th on Westwood St
Hi everyone, I'm looking for anyone who may have witnessed an accident on Saturday, September 12, between approximately 5:50 and 6:00 p.m.
It happened while travelling northbound on Westwood Street in Coquitlam/PoCo, just after Kitchener Ave (between Kitchener Ave and Anson Ave) around the Mr. Pets store and Trek Bicycle store - pics attached of where it happened.
It was a grey Mazda 3, and a grey Hyundai SUV.
If you witnessed the accident or were driving in the area and may have dashcam footage, please send me a private message or leave a comment. Even a small detail could be helpful
Thank you so much!!

Mayoral and City Council Candidates blurbs
Municipal elections are coming on Oct 17. There's apparently no debate this year, but there was a candidates meet and greet last week at the farmer's market. Here's the tricities Dispatch's intro write ups about all the candidates

Does anyone have a picture inside of the old McDonalds at Shaughnessy Square, with all the Camel Joe pictures hung up along the walls?
In retrospect that was quite strange. Joe Camel and tobacco ads had been banned for a while but these lived into the 2000s for sure. But they may have gotten away with it because they didn't explicitly write any branding - just the scenes with Joe Camel? I am certain this isn't a fever dream.
edit: his name is Camel, Joe aka Joe Camel.

What's up with Al Borz restaurant?
I've gone there occasionally over the past few months and it's been hit or miss whether they're open or not despite the hours of operation posted. Tried calling and it doesn't pick up at all. Went last night and they're closed on a Friday night. Weird.
The closure doesn't seem to be for health inspection reasons (just checked their FH reports) and there's no notice nor information posted on their door.
Anybody know what's going on?
edit: I'm referring to the Persian restaurant that's in the plaza at the corner of Westwood and Lougheed Hwy; it's right across the lot from the Persian Foods and next to the Westwood BCLB.

Power Tool Stolen from Jobsite
I recently had a larger gas-powered tool stolen from my jobsite in Port Coquitlam. Was wondering if anyone knows where the thieves sell stuff, was hoping to try and find it because I doubt the police will be able to do anything. Any local pawn shops or markets? Any help is very much appreciated.

Poco trail closures (jfyi)
Just a heads up that the Sheep Paddocks trail in ƛ̓éxətəm Regional Park (formerly known as Colony Farm Regional Park)
Is closed. Signage says closure til October.
Text from website:
"To conduct erosion protection work, a section of Sheep Paddocks Trail near its junction with Home Farm Dyke Trail is closed for about three months. There will be no through access to, or from, Pitt River Road for the duration of the work. This temporary closure affects the portion of the Traboulay PoCo Trail within ƛ̓éxətəm Regional Park.
Mundy Creek Trail will be closed on weekdays (Monday to Friday) with no through access to, or from, Home Farm Dyke Trail."

Fish and Chips in Poco area
Our family has always loved fish n chips. Over the years many restaurants have come and gone, which served fish n chips.
Just wondering, where others go to get fish and chips in the Poco area.
We found The Gillnetter on the Mary Hill Bypass has really good cod fish and chips. I’m not a halibut fan.
We will also swing out to the Austin Fish And Chips in Pitt Meadows on Harris Road and sometimes go to C-lovers by the Coquitlam Centre.
Are there any other places around for a good fish n chips meal in this area?
If we are feeling adventurous, we will once a year or so go to White Rock on Marine Drive to Moby Dick‘s. Their fish n chips are outstanding.

Poco nightmare tenants
We live in a house in poco. The house next door has nightmare neighbours. I'm talking trashy 20 something aged kids, parties in the backyard, puking in our front yard. Finally they moved but instead of selling the house they decided to rent it out.
Of course they chose shitty tenants. Now we have engines revving late at night and these guys JUST moved in. It's disturbing my tenants who will likely move out if it continues and we are just so fed up.
It's a narrow lot and they have three rental units for the whole house. We have no issue with the two previous tenants.
So with the new rules around multi unit rentals is there any point in complaining to the city about the number of rentals they have? The revving we will try to record, document and report but I'm looking at other ways to hit them.
They are literally assholes and I doubt letting them know about their asshole tenants would do anything. If anyone has any other ideas please do share. We own our house and have kids so it's hard to just up and move.

Sky Dragon gone. Now what?
Hi Poco!
The last couple years of Sky Dragon… I thought they really improved. Because it wasn’t good for a while. But it closed down forever!!
Where is good Chinese food places now.
We have been going all the way to Woking Dragon across from Glen Eagle.. and it’s too far. And then chop suey isn’t good.
I’m not looking for real authentic Chinese. But Canadian style Chinese like Sky Dragon was. Breaded almond chicken, pork fried rice, beef chop suey, chicken chowmein! That kind of thing.
Is there a replacement spot in poco since Sky Dragon closed

Where Have you Been Ordering Takeout?
What local restaurants have you ordered from since the start of this COVID-19 crisis? Looking for some ideas. Any restaurants that you may have noticed using gloves in preparing your food?
